No one in their right mind would blame him anyway.

I know it's not good to edit a post, but I couldn't answer all your posts effectively. I bolded my answer to each one of your statements.

Reggie, I don't necessarily disagree with a lot of what you said. The wound is too fresh to debate the finer points that I do disagree with. Bottom line, he didn't score enough goals in the playoffs, regardless why it happened. And now we don't know when or if we will get back to the Finals. On that point, I'm with you.

I voted yes, not because I don't want to keep Nash, but if we keep him we likely have to lose a combination of at least 2 of these guys (Stralman, Staal, Brassard, Zucc, D. Moore, Boyle, Stepan, Hags).

I'd prefer to use his cap space to keep more of the core together then once again go back to rebuilding half of our team.

Moving Richards and Nash free up cap space that we can use to keep this team together for a long time. It covers our UFA/RFAS for the next 2 years, of which we have a ton.

We will have quite a bit of flexibility too, if we wanted to add some guys. Maybe a vet like Alfredsson or Iginla to take Nash's spot on a 1 year deal.

We have great depth on the RW, with Zucc and MSL there. I don't really see any reason that Nash can't be replaced by one of those guys and then either bring in a veteran stopgap or if a trade or something opens up we can go after tehm. Maybe a top tier center or a top 6, LW which we far more desperately need.

In addition, I didn't feel Nash was a determent to this team, but he wasn't one of the main reasons we got to where we are. I can probably name about 10 guys on the roster, maybe even more that I feel were more important to our success in these playoffs.

That's completely unacceptable for a guy of his caliber/pay-grade.

Tanner Pearson looked more like Rick Nash than Rick Nash did this series. Let that sink in. A bunch of rookies were able to elevate their games better than Rick Nash in the playoffs.

I actually like Nash, too. But the man wilts under pressure like nobody I've ever seen.

Excellent point. I was thinking the Exact same thing as I watched Pearson play. What a get for the Kings.

I was his biggest supporter before the start of this season. Now? I'd rather never see him again.

God that is so hard to watch.

To me, Stepan is an EXCELLENT 2C not a 1C.

Stepan had 15 points in 24 games, which is on pace for 52 point over 82 games. That's very solid, especially for someone who was great defensively. If Rash would've scored, Step would be close to point per game in the playoffs and everyone would talk about how he stepped up as a big-time 1C who proved he's capable of leading his team to the Cup.

The only thing Step is lacking is faceoff ability. He won only 42.2% of his faceoffs in the playoffs and 45.2% in the regular season, both worst on the team and one of the worst in the league among those who regularly take faceoffs. Not having the puck makes him waste energy chasing the puck, give up more goals defensively and lose out on chances to score. His 57 regular season points would've likely been closer to 70 if he were good on the faceoffs.

Luckily this is skill that can very much be learned. He needs to spend the summer with a coach who knows this particular skill, while repeatedly taking faceoffs for hours a day.

I personally think Steps needs to work on his skating. Something I've been saying since 2012.

3 ot losses from being Stanley cup champs.....trade yr top player.

The Rangers could've swept the Kings and I would've wanted to dump Rash. I wanted him gone even before this series began. Rather than losing guys like Stralman to free agency, I'd rather dump Rash for a quality, but cheaper player and move on.

I was responding to the post that he's worthless and that since he didn't perform in the SCF he's got to go. Don't know what you mean by hyping.

You make a point. Maybe the words sarcastic, snarky, or condescending apply better.

I would like to see him improve his skating, just not sure he can do it in any significant way. He is what he is when it comes to skating. You can't really teach someone to be fast. You can teach balance, but not speed. (This is why the Rangers always praised McIlrath's skating - even though he has no balance, he has very good speed for a big defenseman).

Maybe a small improvement in his skating could be done, and he's close enough to be a #1 center that if he makes his skating just a little better while improving his faceoff ability, he'll be a true #1 center.

Hope he works on both and very hard.

Simple: would you trade Rick Nash for a 45/50 point young forward similar to Brassard?

I would not lock myself into your parameters, but for the right deal you absolutely move him. We could be very surprised by what another team would give us.

That NTC could be a millstone.

Besides Rick Nash and Chris Kreider?

Stepan wasn't particularly good considering he was going up against some of the most elite competition a center could feasibly face in the NHL in every series but MTL (coincidentally where he has his most points), but to say Nash didn't score because of him is absolutely laughable.

We can't really FIT an elite 1C here because of Nash's contract, along with Hank's new contract and the contract McD, a top 3 defenseman in the NHL, is gonna get. I don't want to be the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Rangers are a top 5 team in the NHL with Stepan at 1C (and with Rick Nash at 1RW, too, to stop myself from appearing to identify with the NASHSUXORZ crowd) Stepan is a fine young 1C and it's painfully obvious that Nash's failures to score are on himself.

The problem is what it cost the Rangers to get Nash compared to what LAK gave up for Gaborik. At that time Nash was thought of as the main guy while Gaborik commanded a complimentary player value and as a slumping rental at that. My point is that the Rangers don't have a budding 1C in the system therefore they would need to significantly reconstruct the offense or trade Nash. The third option is that they are happy with Nash as is given his positive contributions in other areas and counting on higher shooting % and better luck in the future.

God that is so hard to watch.

But it sums up Nash perfectly.

He can't deliver and he'll always have your gut churning when it comes to the crunch.

Because you know he won't deliver.

But your overall theme is if you don't score you stink and you are worthless ... ever think of giving credit to the other team defensively? Just a thought.

Are we talking Brian Boyle here? Cause your spot in if we are.

The other team. Yes, the Kings are probably the deepest team in terms of players who can step up and deliver. I give them all the credit in the world. We need to emulate that.

I would trade every player on the team in all cases including McDonagh/Lundqvist etc...all depending on what comes back so the answer is yes. But would I actively look to trade him? No.
