Resting heart rate

With many Loungers emerging as elite athletes and health experts of late, I thought it would be a great exercise for us to measure and post our resting heart rate.

How to measure it? Set a timer for 10 seconds or watch the second hand on a clock. Count your heartbeats over that ten seconds. Now multiply it by six. That will give you your heart rate.

I just measured mine to be 66.

What is yours?

You really should count it out longer than a measly 10 seconds, you clown.

Unless you have some sort of cardiac arrhythmia, counting for 10 seconds and multiplying by 6 is completely fine for these situations

Mine is usually 60-66

I've just always done 30, and suggested such for any client to be safe.

Just took mine, 56.

Well its always going to be an estimation with +/- x amount of beats based on numerous factors. As long as your clients are not exceeding their max heart rate (estimation based on 220 - age# of individual) everything should be fine.

I use the Karvonen Formula with them.

You will easily miss 1-2 beats measuring with your hand. Multiply that with 6 and the margin of error becomes quite significant.

For some reason both my maximum and resting heart rate is quite low. 44 bpm.
