Forgive me because I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff. Once Nieto reports to Worchester can he then be called up at any time?

Depends on the deal he signs. Lots of players sign an ATO so that teams don't lose a year off their ELC for less then 20 games - the ELC would start next year. IF that's the case he cannot be called up.

However, 210 and I were chatting about this and it wouldn't totally shock me to see Nieto in San Jose, especially if Clowe is moved for futures.

Has he been that impressive? We aren't in the habit of rushing prospects, so that would be surprising to me.

However I did have a dream about Nieto reporting to SJ, so maybe despite my failing to ever win a SNOG, I am the Nostradamus.

I believe so, doubt they'll rush him like that though. But who knows.

For the vast majority of prospects, especially forward prospects, getting them to the NHL as fast as possible is the right course of action. Unless you are giving him less than 5 minutes a night or something...

I go to BU, so I have been watching him for a while. He is Marleau fast, goal scorer, and is able to create ice space for himself. Also, he tends to score when the team need it the most. Very good in overtimes, and when BU is down by 1 in the last minute. I could see him being called up. He is the best forward on BU this season. Also, he is on the PP (first unit), PK (second unit), and responsible in his own end.

What about guys who are on the smaller side and have questionable defensive games?

He's been that good for the 2nd half of his BU season. He could possibly step in on Thornton's wing considering how sheltered he's been since McLellan went to 3 scoring lines.

I'm not saying SJ is going to bring him up this year, just that I wouldn't be at all surprised even though it's very rare they bring prospects straight to the NHL.

I would be pleased to see that. :)
