GDT: Relegation: Germany vs. Kazakhstan; Jan. 2, 2025; 11:00 EST

Any thoughts on Samanski? i hoped he can pot a few this tournament. Only Sumpf and Lewandowski are playing great in o-zone, at least stats-wise.

Not felling hopeful whatsoever, Germany to me looked more convincing than Switzerland.

Praying we have means to see this game, as usually this game is not televised anywhere.

It will be televised in Germany. So, at least theoretically there could be streams out there.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Kazakhs can play, they just need to believe it first.
Nah, I've seen all Kazakhstan games, well, parts of them. The only thing they're capable of is getting some breakaways and 1on1s after unforced errors.

Germany plays a disciplined, structured game. They simply will not allow them a lot of O-zone time nor that many breakaways.

I expect a 4-1 5-2 type scoreline

Not sure why they switched in recent years to single game elimination… they got time and a rink empty after today. Either way, happy this is televised!

Yeah. Kazakhstan basically turtled and counterattacked in this tournament (which is a fairly reasonable tactic considering their talent level), and they can only be successful as long as they get saves from Nikitin and opponents gift them goals via penalties or breakaways.

It is a burden to the players physically, they are continuously away from their club commitments and I'm pretty sure the team that won the first game has won every series during the Bo3 days.

I prefer a one game show down. It also allows teams to make more concrete plans for flights, etc. Reduces costs as well.

Really? I’m gonna have to go back and check, never noticed that.
In case you didn't yet, in 2014 Germany pulled it back after losing the first game to Norway. But regardless, you get my point, in the overwhelming majority of series, they might as well have been 1 game.
