so, I decided to try to improve the mood around here, with all those bad pre-season performances and the Stepan hold-out.
WARNING! This came to life rather spontaneously (in fact it's a way of running from my obligations at university
), so if you have a problem with the modus operandi, just place your input in this thread or PM me. I'll then discuss the topic with you and we'll decide whether we'll adjust the system or not.
The rules are simple: for correctly guessing whether a team makes the playoffs or not, you'll get 3 points, for guessing the right ranking at the end of the season 2 points and for guessing the right amount of points 2 points. So, if you guess completely correct, that gives you 7 points. You'll get 4 points for guessing the Presidents Trophy winner correctly. If the top teams happen to have the same amount of points, mark the winner with a *.
We're guessing both Conferences. Deadline is right when the puck drops for the first time in the season (7:00 PM ET, 10/1/13).
Guess: Hypothetical Example:
Eastern:
1. NYR - 114 Pts
2. BOS - 109 Pts
3. WSH - 104 Pts
4. NYI - 97 Pts
5. FLA - 96 Pts
...
9. PIT - 89 Pts
Result:
1. BOS - 109 Pts --> gives you 5 pts (3 for playoff-position, 2 for amount of points)
2. NYR - 104 Pts --> gives you 3 pts (for playoff position)
3. WSH - 104 Pts --> JACKPOT, you'll get 7 pts
4. NYI - 98 Pts --> gives you 5 points (3 for playoffs, 2 for ranking)
...
8. PIT - 89 Pts --> 2 points for amount of points.
FLA out of Playoffs - 88 Pts --> YOU GET NOTHING! NOTHING!
...
At the end of the season I'll do the math and whoever wins will get the great price: the title of BEST RANKINGS PREDICTOR EVER (IN THE 2013/14 SEASON). And I'll post you these smilies:
