Likely means Dermott is Bakersfield bound, and the old 17/18 Leafs' 3rd pairing becomes Bakersfield's top pairing. Though imo Carrick is the RHD that makes the most sense to play on the left side, so maybe not.

Carrick-Attard
Dermott-Brown
Dineen-Kemp/Wanner

The Condors have way too many RHD. And while it may not have any big-name prospects, that's still an excellent defence for the AHL. The Condors shouldn't be struggling as much as they are.

The Oil also get to have a look at a RDH lottery ticket for the next month or so. Though I'd be surprised to see him get into a game before January.

Do we know they didn't try to claim Fabbro? Seems like they must've if they're claiming this guy.

I don't think there was anything official on it, but Oilers should have been ahead of Columbus in waiver priority. The day that Fabbro was put on waivers, we were lower in the standings by points percentage. The day after, when claims would have been reviewed to determine his new home, BJs had a lower points percentage.

Tom Gazolla reported something along the lines of "management mocked the idea of putting a claim for Fabbro"

If what Tom is saying is true.

This will be a good test of our scouting. So we said No to Fabbro, but Yes to Regula. That's noteworthy and something we can track when it comes to the Bowman blame game.

Everything I've read has said that Columbus had waiver claim priority on Fabbro. I'd be curious to see your source if that is fact not the case? Would be telling info .if it were in fact. true.

Also, Gazzolla is about as far from a reliable source as it gets these days.

Someone on the mains just said he's Dollar Store Bouchard. If he's that. I'm completely happy with the move, and actually excited. But more likely that poster was just throwing shade at Bouch and doesn't know how good Bouch is.

Yes. We should really figure this out. I'd like to know too if Management had the chance at Fabbro and said no.

I haven't heard much Gazolla takes lately, but I know last year or was it 2 years ago he called something... can't remember it right now. I'll have to check my post history. He used to be the Tony Brar though, and he's still plugged into the Oilers media lanscape, I would think he would have some sources..

Fun fact, Bouch and Regula were D partners in London:

“Regula is an OHL rookie who is really gaining steam in the scouting community. He played a depth role for a really strong USHL team last year in Chicago (who won the Clark Cup) and is really starting to look comfortable in the OHL the last month or so. He’s now playing a ton for the Knights, suiting up alongside Evan Bouchard on the top pairing.”

I believe Regula played the left side when they were together. Be curious to try that again.

Fabbro was claimed by Columbus. I don't recall if they were last or 2nd last at the time, but they had waiver priority over we did. Do we know for sure that the Oil didn't put in a claim?

Yeah, looked back . He was claimed November 11th. Columbus was 5-7-2, Edmonton was 7-7-1, so Columbus would have had priority.

I'd say that's a really weird comp. He had some offense in junior, but he's far from a player like Bouchard.

Ekholm or Emberson would be the closer stylistic comp if we're sticking to Oilers.

That's interesting. If he can threaten for a 3rd pair RHD it's a win.

Yeh probably just a bad comp now that I'm reading more on him.

Probably won't pain out, but no reason not to give the guy an audition on the 2nd/3rd pairing to see if maybe there is something there while they wait for something to shake loose closer to the trade deadline.
