Well sure there is a regional network, but it will be, wait for it... regional. :) The bay Area is not the same region as LA. I think up there it's NBC Sports Bay Area or something and it carries the teams local to San Fransisco/Jose.

Many cable companies don't have a sports package to get those other local sports channels. I know directv does. As was mentioned you can always get gamecenter. Which will give you all the out of market games for just the nhl.
Maybe look at doing uverse internet with directv. My guess is they likely have bundle prices there also being the same company.

I had uverse for a few years. You can add the extra regional sports channels for an extra monthly fee (it was something like $7, came bundled with NFL Network), but you'll get blacked out of live NHL/NBA/MLB games. Occasionally it'd be fun to have to watch some random stuff like college hockey on Fox Sports Detroit, but a lot of times it's just the same UFC re-run playing on seven different channels.

I had to be the bearer of bad news about the live games being blacked out to my buddy. He said that the salesperson told him that the games wouldn't be blacked out.

An easy way to get Kings games if you have family in SoCal is to get their login information from their provider and use the Fox Sports Go app. You can use U-verse, but it is certainly tied to the bay area. I used to stream most of the games while I had DirecTv, it is fast and easy to hook a fire TV up to any flat screen. Since I cancelled, I just use my parents login info. They are always travelling, but their home address is still down here. Just login with the credentials and you are good to go.
