Hey guys Atlantic Canadian here...can someone explain in simple language why the h-e double hockey sticks I get hit with so many damn blackouts trying to watch my Leafs play...this is beyond frustrating (today TOR v EDM) I have the NYR v PIT game...ffs nobody out here likes NYR and PIT is a small number of viewers only because of Crosby

Unfortunately we in the Atlantic provinces are considered to be in the Ottawa region for some stupid reason, and to a lesser degree Montreal. So we only get national broadcasts, games against Ottawa and games against Montreal on SN. Games against Montreal on TSN are usually only available on RDS. Cause we all speak French down here.:huh:

I live in New Brunswick. I use chromecast along with subscriptions to Sportsnet and TSN. I pay around $30/month for each. The package I have with Sportsnet, they also included the NHL app. I’ve been able to watch every Leafs game so far. The only problem is the lagging/buffering that happens due to Bell’s wifi.

Centre ice has all the games. The only ones I've ever missed on it was the preseason games between the Leafs and Canadiens from Montreal. They were only available on TSN in the Leafs region, RDS here because we are Montreal region (Atlantic Canada) everywhere else on Center Ice.

Blackouts exist solely so they can charge out of region fans a lot of money to watch their team. The league and broadcast partners would rather take that cash grab from their loyal base than provide more national broadcasts that could help create more new fans.

I recently moved back to the GTA after being in Montreal for the last seven years. It does feel nice to be back in region and not have to deal with that anymore.

Do you know if every Leafs game will be available on that?
I don’t. My subscription is in Nashville’s territory and the only restriction I have is I have to watch the Preds broadcast if I’m watching their game unless it’s the NBC national game.

National games would be blacked out on Centre Ice (or not on there at all I would imagine) as they are only on Sportsnet (Wednesdays and Saturdays). Additionally, any games on TSN5 (vs Ottawa) or TSN2 (vs Montreal) would also not be available on Centre Ice; you would have to watch those on the aforementioned TSN stations.

In order to see ALL the Leafs game as a non-Leafs region viewer you are required to have Sportsnet, TSN and Centre Ice; that is of course if you are looking for legitimate methods only.

And before you ask, the same blackout regulations apply to NHL.tv.

Whenever there is a regional Canadiens game on TSN2 or a regional Senators game on TSN5, in the Toronto area they are always blacked out.

Exactly, as it should be. Same as Jets games on TSN3 I would imagine. My comments were for Eastern Canadian non-Leafs region viewers (i.e Eastern Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic).

Don't pay these thieving corporations. Hundreds of free HD streams to be found online.

This might not be the ideal situation but if you have the NHL app they broadcast any game for free via the teams radio broadcast. It's how I was able to listen to some Leafs games when I went on vacation and there was Wi-Fi available.

For example when I was in Walt Disney World in December 2019 while I was walking in Epcot, I was listening to the Leafs vs Oilers game.

I also got to listen to the Leafs vs Hurricanes game from last season that Toronto won 8-6, because I was staying in Findlay, Ohio at a Hampton Inn on my way back home.
