REFLECTIONS OF A SEASON'S EVE.. a hockey poem.

The arrival of this Puck Drop Eve, so eagerly awaited,
Revealed no pent-up bitterness, all malice had abated.
Even all the bluster of the cold, the wind, the flurries,
Could scarcely quell the Nation's mood, or mitigate their hurries.

Hahaha, nice. Cheesy, but I can appreciate the effort

'Twas the night before hockey, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The beer was in the fridge, chilling in the cold,
Because pounding a few back during the game, never gets old.

The fans were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Kadri, danced in their heads.
And mamma in the bed, and me on the couch,
We just settled a fight, she kicked my ass, ouch.

When on came the TV there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
To the remote control, I flew like a flash,
Tripped over my kids toy, I went down with a crash.

While there on the floor, I saw on my TV,
A man talking so loud I felt obliged to agree.
Talking about hockey, he was making a loud racket.
Which was odd since he was wearing a flowery jacket.

And then to his left, there was another man,
Who knew so much about hockey I was instantly a fan.
But the man on the right, was still arguing like crazy,
Which was humourous because his jacket had so many daisies.

I hate him, fire Wilson! You suck, fire Burke!
Why you no play Zigo or Kadri?!?!? You jerk!
He said it so many times, again and again,
You began to question whether or not he is sane.

Thanks 7even. A first effort at poetry. I'll take "cheesy but good" any day.
(Better than the guy who posted "pure unadulterated ****" certainly.)

[Quadruple Dion]

Not a poem, but keeping in the realm of culture (sort of), you know how countries, like universities and other enormous institutions, have Latin mottoes - e pluribus unum, a mari usque ad mare (IIRC)?

This being Leafs *Nation,* "Go Leafs Go" is, in Latin, if any of y'all care, "ite folia ite." Well, that's 'leaves' and not 'leafs,' but I don't know the best way translate that unexpected plural... Boo hoo! Anyway, the more you know.
