Moving down/up one pick almost never makes sense.8 + 52 for 9 + 41 might be doable. But even then I probably wouldn’t do that.
No I don’t give a shit about draft value charts. So don’t quote me and try to use those to confirm or debunk that proposal.
This draft has a pretty large tier of solid players after the top 5, and mock drafts are all over the map for the next 12-15 prospects.Funny how Sabres fans are saying pass...
No way I do this as a Wings fan. Make the pick at 8 and hope to get a solid player.

If Buffalo traded from 9 to 8 it'd be because they wanted somebody they were afraid Detroit was gonna take, and if Detroit was gonna take that guy, they're not going to trade with Buffalo, who is apparently trying to get the same guy Detroit wants.
Better chance you get a good player withDetroit needs home runs at this point, not a bunch of base hits.
Better chance we get a top 6 center or top 4 defender at 8 than 16.
It's 8 more players available for Detroit's scouts to choose from, and considering what they've done with Seider/Raymond/Edvinsson, I'll take the extra choices.Better chance you get a good player with
16, 28, 41
than
8, 52, 200
The chances of 200 even being an NHL player is extremely slim. The difference between 8 & 16 isn't as big as you think it is.
If you're that high on the scouting staff wouldn't you want more picks in the top 60? That's way more cracks at getting a top player. Or are you not confident in their ability to draft outside of the top 10?It's 8 more players available for Detroit's scouts to choose from, and considering what they've done with Seider/Raymond/Edvinsson, I'll take the extra choices.

16 + 28 + 41 >>> 8 + 52 + 200
From a value standpoint the trade is in favor of Detroit. The 8th pick & 16th pick aren't that far off from each other. The 200th pick barely has any value. Any smart GM would run away with that trade.
You get more homeruns with more picks in the top 50. That's why the Sabres don't do the trade.Again, Detroit needs home runs, not base hits.
Cool. Sounds like we're both good with not doing the trade. You get more homeruns with more picks in the top 50. That's why the Sabres don't do the trade.
