The first goal on Campbell was rather weak but otherwise he had a solid game. Didn’t have to do much, we were absolutely dominant for 60 minutes.
Yeah saw the first one. I’ll watch the highlights later but 3 goals on 18 shots with no context doesn’t look very good

Only caught the first period but judging by the shots looked like a pretty dominant game.
Campbell let this get to OT?
One softie but Imo he was not teaching the puck well and though the 2 others we good goals his position gave him zero chance on them

A game like this is why I won’t dwell on any regular season loss for more than a minute.

We came close to losing a game that in most other sports is a dominating win.

Hockey is a high variance sport and there are games like this one that we could have easily lost (like the Montreal game) despite dominating from the moment the puck dropped.

At one point half way through the second, Matthews had more shots than all of Dallas combined.

We've dominated teams so many times this season only to lose - yeah we gave them a loser point, but that point is no big deal against a Western team.

Congrats Papi, can't wait until you pass Stamkos as the next player to hit 60.

Game on the scoreboard looked close, but Toronto dominated in every facet of that game.

Matthews is a straight savage, he's on a next level this year and looks very determined to do some damage in the playoffs this year.

They did dominate though they weren't as aggressive in the third with the 1 goal lead.

The first goal Campbell overplayed the puck and let it get through.

The second goal, mid-line change, the Leafs got caught in their own zone and a missed defensive assignment (due to a tired Marner and Bunting) left Klingberg wide open for a cross ice one timer that Campbell had no chance

The third was a bit unlucky. Dallas kept the puck in at the point (I think Nylander and some other forwards did too much of a fly by and missed ensuring they got the puck out) but the point shot was from the top of the circle at the half-wall.

That shot was going 5 feet wide bit Pavelski (despite having his stick tied up) deflected it 3.5' in the air and it deflected into the net (Campbell at no chance). What was wild on that play is how the puck deflected off of his stick, it was off the shaft and hit on the perfect spot that kicked the puck left and hard.

That was a pretty dominant performance even tho it took OT to win it.

Congrats to Matthews on breaking the record and 65 goals is definitely attainable with the way he's been playing.

Marner has been playing great lately and the increased physical play is very encouraging.

One thing I found interesting was that Dallas started OT with Faska and Glendenning. I understand the concept of winning that faceoff and potentially having control of the puck for like 30-45 seconds. What I dont understand is once you do win the faceoff, why didnt you make an instant line change and get your best offensive players on the ice and try to finish it right away. Good for us that they didnt do that but it seemed very strange to not do the second part of the strategy.

Man, people have high expectations for Goalies.

1st one he could have had, partially blocked shot, goes straight to Seguin, off his stick and in. It's an awkward goal off an awkward play. Could he have had it? Sure, but for me that's just one of those weird plays that happen.

2nd one, that's all on defending.

This is at the moment Pavelski makes the pass to Klingberg. Campbell has to look through to his left around 4 players to track the puck, including Marner who completely abandoned his man who is wide open just outside the screen in the slot.

The pass goes across to Cambell's right and he can't get there, hard pass, takes an extra beat to pick it up through traffic and has to start off on the wrong side to see through the traffic. If he reads it better he gets there quicker and has a chance, but very difficult to do with that traffic in front. Cover your man, don't give teams layups.

3rd goal, I'm not sure how you can possibly fault Campbell for, its a hard shot from an angle going 2 feet wide across the front of the crease and Pavelski deflects it around him. I don't know what you could possibly expect him to do differently. Play super deep in the net maybe it hits him?

You’re right, I noticed the same thing. If Dallas had more shots I wager there would have been more weak goals. I’m worried more about our goaltending than our defence.

First one was real lucky, Campbell was adjusting and Seguin lost the puck, if he wouldn't have bobbled it I think it would have been easy save for Campbell. Second one was beautiful pass from Klingberg and third one spectacular hand-eye coordination from Pavelski. Could have had that first one, but other two no one could have had or that would have been luck rather than skill.

Couldn't help but notice 65 and 15 together in OT after a few on this board suggested it after the OT loss to Florida. Coincidence ??

Dallas had no business being in this game. Leafs played well.

Matthews was just dominant. He wanted it bad. I hope he's like this in the playoffs.

Yeah, I had suggested seeing Miky and Engvall but at least Miky had an opportunity and didn’t look bad. They both controlled puck well.

Just keep rotating your dmen Keefe. Holl looked real bad last night. Give them rest. I for one am sick and tired of the regular season. Its almost been too long in the NHL, but now its just way too long.

Wasn't much of a game, still don't see much of anything to this Robertson guy for Dallas, amazing that, has 32 goals imo.

Agree. Felt like we dominated.

Couple breakdowns that continue to end up in the back of the net. The blow coverage on the 2nd goal, where was everybody? And once again a soft cover in front of the net by 78 allows the 3rd goal. Both avoidable imo.

Coverage got confused/messy because the 2nd goal was right after a PK. Marner was out of position.

Brodie had the player and stick covered on the 3rd goal. Pavelski just made a lucky and world class tip. There wasn't much he could do without actually holding the stick of the player.

Big shout out to Matty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! World class game .. congrats on new scoring record .. we are all thankful .. wow wow wow

Also great game by Mitch too .. gotta luv da aggression on da forecheck

Defense was alright .. a couple errors by Holl and Rielly cost us a couple .. tending was alright too

Hope we go back to Gio and Lily as what I noticed is we lacked a pair who dominated every shift on ice .. Gio did not look as good with Holl .. Rielly offensively looked better with Lub (even though he lost his man in front of net) .. Muzzy needs another 5 games to lose his excess weight but looked better with brodie for sure .. we need to tighten up on backend once playoff starts
