Toronto, ON
  1. Losing to the Habs, the worst team to ever make the playoffs in any professional sport, after being up in the series 3 to 1. Got dominated by Perry. The CN Tower was lit up in Habs colors.
  2. Losing to the Panthers, the second wildcard team, in a gentlemen's sweep. Got dominated and brutalized physically, mentally, and spiritually by Bennett, Gudas, etc.
  3. JT's humiliating return to NYI. Utterly destroyed physically, mentally, spiritually, and in every other conceivable way. The mayor of Toronto had to declare JT day to mourn the Leafs.
  4. Losing to a Carolina Hurricanes team that was using an EBUG who was the Leafs zamboni driver.
  5. Failing to close out Boston in game 6 when the Leafs were up in the series 3 to 2.

Feel free to add to the list. It's in no particular order.

Some of these points can have subpoints

For example with the Habs series, while the defeat itself was certainly humiliating, there were notable lowlights within that like

  • Matthews scored just one goal
  • Marner scored zero goals
  • Dermott twirling around like a f***ing Pejorative Slur
  • Galchenyuk thinking he was playing for the Habs again
  • Matthews laughing pathetically as he gets physically bullied in a scrum
  • Not even bothering to show up for game 7

You forgot agents calling out fans for putting too much pressure on the core after the Habs series.

Watching All or Nothing.

More of microaggressions, but: unable to win in Vancouver, blowing the season opener with 17 seconds left against the Habs (only cuz I was there), Captain Underpants dummying his chance of captaincy.

There's been a lot of the obvious ones stated so I'll give a more lowkey one. After the tumultuous summer in which Marner signed, he recorded a video saying how much he loved Toronto and the fanbase

One of the most tone deaf and lame things I've ever watched lmao.

The low points for me were: 1. Willy sitting out during his contract negotiation demanding massive payments; 2. Then Matthews bending the Leafs organization by signing one of the most lopsided in his favour RFA contracts ever - massive upfront bonuses, more than McDavid money considering the 5 year term, NMC in final year of contract; 3. That followed with Marner's overpayment of a contract with similar massive upfront bonuses, and NMC in the final years. I was disappointed with their attitudes around money and it didn't felt right, but gave these guys the opportunity to prove me wrong...alas.

Habs and Columbus are the two that broke my back as a fan. Especially the Habs. I follow the Leafs but haven’t been to a game since. I refuse to support this loser franchise financially. They can get my tv viewership, but that’s it.

The Habs series was the definite low point - up 3-1 and would have won game one and swept if not for a poorly timed Sandin pinch.

Columbus was bad mainly because of the comeback but it was a meme series to begin with; a ‘play in’ after six months of hockey with no fans - and barely two years later I’m flying internationally and not once asked for proof of vaccination. Thanks China, the US Government and the WHO!

Washington is more sad because it looked like the start of better things - that was an absolute whale of a series, and that same Caps team went on to win the Cup the next year.

If Boston didn’t choke they would have found a way to beat the Leafs in 4. You know it and I know it.

This loss isn’t ‘bad’ in the sense that it was five close games, so much as it was Mitch and Matthews having their heads on the golf course - let’s hope it brings about some of the changes that should have happened after Columbus.

The hope that game 4 comeback gave followed by the heartbreak 48 hours later.
seeing Andersen let in a goal line shot against foudy was demoralizing as f***

The debrusk goal which gave Boston a 5-4 lead in 2018 was shockingly scarring. Andersen and gardiner could not have played it worse

Habs Game 6 hurt, but game 5 hurt much more to me. If galch got that puck to either the front of the net or behind the net, I believed 100% one of kerfoot or nylander who were down there would’ve scored on the ensuing play. The game was over in an instant, felt so bad

Montreal series really made me open my eyes on the team. I still had BELEAF, but in the back of my head I had doubts of M&M.

This stuff used to kill me. I’d be up at night imagining if we won the series how the rest of the playoffs would go. Analyzing our potential fake matchups to see how we would stack up. I’d imagine our goalie making the saves and our players scoring the goals. It’s been a few days and I’ve emotionally gotten over the anger/sadness of the game and series. Just looking forward to changes on the team

Losing to the EBUG was the worst in my opinion. The playoff losses are definitely more significant and caused me more lost sleep, but the EBUG loss should have been proof that this core is destined for failure

The worse ones have already been mentioned. Losing that big event Hamilton outdoor game against a bad Buffalo team was a low light too.

I can list some more low points that I don't believe anyone has mentioned yet.

1. One and eleven in series-clinching games.

2. Nylanders disgraceful and atrocious season after holding out and missing camp as well as the first 2 months of the season. I'll give him a couple of weeks for being "rusty". But 5 freaking months? I believe that was intentional sabotage because he was angry about the contract situation.

3. Marner quite literally crying in the penalty box.

4. Marner at one point having 6 career penalties in the playoffs with 5 of them being "puck over glass" to avoid getting body checked.

5. Marner complaining to the media that they are "grown men" after a career of acting like a baby at any mention of criticism

6. Keefe criticizes the core 4, Marner acts like a baby about it, Keefe is forced to apologize.

7. Kaskisuo has his first ever and only start in the NHL. Leaf players didn't show up in the slightest and there is a literal shelling on the kid. They left him out to rot and didn't care in the slightest.

8. Nylander having about a dozen meme videos in the playoffs of him shamefully giving up on plays to avoid getting hit.

9. And what I think is the biggest of all and the foreshadowing of everything to come. The team giving up on Babcock and playing in a way that was clearly open rebellion. The crime? Babcock tried using solid structures that would hurt the core from padding their stats and getting more money. It showed the core that THEY are in charge and they will be pandered to.All downhill from there.

Jeez, it would be easier to find moments that WEREN'T shameful.

I will wait for the "recapping the high points" thread that is sure to follow.

Said that we should not have been loading up at the TDL because this team was not good enough. When it was called loser mentality, my response was we'll see who is better at reading the tea leaves. The results are in and it was not Dumbass.

My personal timeline which I've expanded on in other posts

Hiring dubas
Losing to Boston x2
Firing babcock cause hes a big meanie
Hiring Keefe
The contract negotiations
"We can and we will"
Losing in a play in series
Losing to the Habs in the worst division in hockey
Losing to a zamboni driver
6 straight 1st rd exits
Planning the parade after beating a depleted lightning team
Rolling over for Florida
Dubas potentially remaining GM

Some of it might be slightly out of order, hard to keep all this failure straight

"Firing babcock cause hes a big meanie"

choose one...

He was also fired because if they kept him and kept playing like they were, we were missing the playoffs.
