Another year of this.....
Mann....

Makes you wonder why we continue being in this abusive relationship. TO be honest, I already wasn't paying much attention to Leafs regular season games this year. I was finding other things to do with my time. That will be repeated next season unless there are some significant changes. Logically, it doesn't make sense to waste time on this team anymore.

It's not like we can choose to cheer for another team. It's impossible to attach yourself emotionally to any other team after all this time. For better or for worse we are Leafs fans. We'll be right back here next playoffs hoping/dreaming things will be different.

How many re-tools does it take to screw in a light bulb before a good idea becomes a bad idea?

I guess the answer I suppose comes down to how many 1st round losses does it take to convince someone that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. :wg:

The core group of Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Rielly is already 0 for 6 when it comes to winning a single playoff round. Maybe #7 is the lucky number if swap out a few spare parts and run it back.

Now here is another idea. Since the Leafs are the only non expansion team since the Salary Cap was instituted in 2005 to fail to win single playoff round, perhaps their failures are tied to Salary Cap allocation of core players consuming too much C.H.% that there isn't enough remaining Cap space $ for those constantly interchangeable re-tooling parts to ice a competitive playoff hockey team?

Maybe having 3 of the 5 highest cap hit forwards is a REAL bad idea rather than a good one.

Swapping out a few spare parts in a re-tooling is not going to fix this. !!!!!

Leafs drink their own koolaid far too often. I have seen that with dubas and keefe. spare parts patch work isn't going to get it done. the mindset of managment and coaching staff led by keefe smells of loser attitude.

was just looking at sutter's press conference post game 7; he just won a game 7 he does not seem at all too satisfied. Disregard the tweet message just look at the video. It is chalk and cheese the difference in mindset and approach.

sure, but come up with a move that makes the team better. with names.
I can't do it because I never would have signed the deal with the 3 pretty boys or Tavares. Never would have gotten rid of Brown, Moore, Hyman, Bozak, Kapanen or Kadri. Never would have signed the deals that Dubas did to try and make up for his mistakes. Now, you want me to fix the mess that he got the team into, it'll take time and a lot of money. You don't have the money and at my age, I don't have the time.

So early indications are that the core 5, Shanahan, Dubas, and probably Keefe will return. If that's true, remember who first predicted it here last summer-- ME!

Gimme a cookie.
They will trade one of the core 5 for sure. Team needs different look. It's time. Dubas wants to stay? Fine. throw a grenade or two in that room. Also, Keefe is 50/50 if he gets fired if I had to guess

I want Malgin back. :)
He made a huge step forward this season.

(maybe I just want to have a Swiss player... Something around Josi for Marner?)

Once a Leaf fan always a Leaf fan .. next year I prefer to go back and watch da kids coming up in G and O again .. until this COVID thing is over I can't commit to Marlies seasons either .. but it was fun to get back into Scotia and Amalie over past couple weeks for Leafs playoffs .. a little payoff for my license this year

Do the Leafs win if Vasilevskiy is in their net?
Yes.
Unquestionably.
His save on Matthews that led directly to the 2nd goal and another save he made with the shaft of his stick were the difference.
In Game 2, he made a save on Liljigren that would have put Toronto well on their way into that game.

Campbell made some really great saves, but for every great save by Campbell, Vasi was forced to make at least one of equal or greater difficulty during the series.

Being smug? Lol so this is all about appearance now? How do you know anyones easily satisfied and complacent? It sounds like you’re making generalizations about people based on your perception of them, maybe you’re offended by smart looking individuals who talk with composure and confidence (and are losers) as opposed to spitting out quotes like beligerence testosterone pugnacity etc. while purposely not having their tie tied in order to look like their hard at work

you forgot to mention "and are losers".

i will have to say, - they need to make things so the players aren't comfortable. but i say this about most hockey players so it's not just a leaf thing. like

you have two very good coaches out there - fire keefe and get one.

I dunno who is out there GM wise - and it's not really anything against dubas, i really don't care either way

my issue with him was always how Shanahan never interviewed other people which was long stated before - but if there is someone amazing out there - go figure it out.

you have Several superstars. Matthews, Tavares, Rielly - are the ones who stay. Pick one of Nylander, Marner (or whomever else), and trade them. (and the only reason why Rielly isn't in the "trade" group is because they just gave him that new contract). It's not personal, and don't bother me with stats, and zone entries and the whole "ermergerd yes, let's see our players win cups with other teams," because they aren't winning cups here with us, clearly.

there needs to be a constant sense of "not comfortable" in that locker room. y'all can bicker about "not being tough" and yeedah blegh, I think (watching the games i watched all of seven LOL), is that like the boston series - the leafs held their own physically. the powerplay wasn't shining (again), as they don't really seem to figure out how to translate the best 5 powerplay 3-4 years into the row to playoff powerplay which is a different beast]. come back to camp, and Marner is gone. - okay. fear of god put in yall. Trade deadline trade someone else, okay fear of God is still in you. Y'all set records - great, head office changes.you didn't win the big one, so everything else is moot. it's not personal, its about putting fire under your butts. there is too much. "we've done our job, so whatever happens happens." It wasn't evident in this series (again), but I mean that essence is still there.

I mean dead honest I didn't watch one moment of hockey this year (to be fair, I was way too sick do anything but get better), but I didn't miss it. I'm not going to watch this year because I have other things to do with my time. they'll be good. but the point is to make advancement. you aren't advancing. so make it uncomfortable, and try again.

Mrazek will be a soft move to a middling team who misses out on the very few goalies available. New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, buffalo, arizona San jose, Ottawa, Montreal depending on price’s situation are all teams who probably won’t be attractive to FA’s but would be interested in a goalie with a track record and short term stability.
Chychrun I think would be Sandin ++ (pick & prospect)

He has a 10 team trade list

There's only so many we can send him to and they'll hold us over a barrel

The yotes are going to get a premium for Chychrun if they want to move him.

The ask will be more then what we can pay without ruining the franchise especially because we'd need to dump salary going back

Nylander is the only one on a good contract and that money doesn't go very far I'd be very hesitant to move him no matter how obvious it seems

at this point mostly the Media articles that I have read and I’m waiting to see if anything happens to Keefe, Dubas or Shanny.
I consider keeping those 3 as part of running it thru again
Got it. I'll wait to hear from the team or see what action they take.

Have the players cleaned out their lockers? Dubas made his end of year address yet?
If not do we know when that is scheduled?

Might get a lot of heat for saying this but......

We should get Brad Marchand.

Send Willy to Boston to play with his best bud Pasta.

Marchand is a rich man's Bunting and is still an elite PPG player at the age of 34.

I know emotions are still running hot around here, but I personally believe that is the right call at this point in time. I don't think throwing a grenade for the sake of sending a message makes sense unless it will improve the team.

If we can upgrade our goaltending and replace guys like Kerfoot, Mikheyev, Kase, and Holl with grittier players that can have more of an impact in the playoffs, it's worth giving it one more try.

I think it's going to be a very busy and interesting summer in Leaf land.
I'd expect at least 1/2 the team to turnover, maybe more.
Anyone know what percentage of the team was turned over last year?
