For sure I just thought it’d be interesting because we basically have three tiers of skill/salary here.

I think its more about term than salary...kreider obviously will make the most $$. but strome for 4-5 years vs kreider for 7 or strome for 4-5 years vs kreider vs 5 becomes a completely different debate

Term is probably the same tiers as salary. I can’t imagine why Kreider would take less than 6-7 years.

Strome. C is the valuable position. It seems like finding chemistry with Panarin is easy but why mess with it? If you can get him on a 4yr deal for about 5 I run with it. Hopefully he establishes that it's not a fluke year and still has time to get another payday down the road.

My heart says Kreider but my head says Strome. So I chose Strome. Finding good centers is difficult for this organization. And he will presumably be cheaper than Kreider.

if none want to take a discount, then the answer is none.

only one i'd consider is Strome because of how thin they are at center. it's a premium position and Strome is getting more than just solid production at it, even if he's being carried by Panarin.

The 7x7, 5x5 and 3x3 projections above are pretty solid. I would not do Strome at that price. The only way I'd really feel comfortable keeping Strome is if it was for 2-3 years around 4-4.5M

K, then I would trade Kreider for sure, but the other two are tough.

Would come down to what the possible returns would be for them, but gun to my head I would rather re-sign Fast.

It's impossible for me to answer this question without knowing the details of the contract.

And without knowing the offers for them at the trade deadline.

Strome is on pace for nearly 80 points and he's 26 years old. What if someone blows you away with an offer for him?

I mean..... what about those numbers aren't similar to Zibanejad's breakout last season?

I wouldn’t overthink it. This is really about weighing the pros and cons of one player vs another. Obviously if Kreider just has to stay a Ranger and Fast just has to own a Ferrari that changes things.

Gotta be Strome. He's streaky just like the others, but the proven chemistry with Panarin as well as his versatility make him the best option of the three to keep long term. It's a win if you can get him locked in at $5 million or so on a 4-5 year deal.

It's this all day. Strome because of his versatility and the fact that his contract shouldn't break he bank

I've certainly come around a bit on Strome. I don't want to give him a no-movement clause, and I don't want to break the bank for him, but I'm open to the idea that maybe he is a viable #2 center here, surrounded by superstar wingers like Panarin, Kakko, Chytil, Kravtsov, and Alexis Lafrieniere. :sarcasm:

If he's gonna be a 70 point center surrounded by those guys, well, I guess I'm fine with that for another 5 years.

I would be intrigued by a Panarin-Chytil-Strome line next year. That gives Chytil more minutes and keeps Strome with Panarin. Again, that's Strome's versatility

Strome. Youngest, most versatile. That he has a year of RFA drops his cap hit. Age matters most to a rebuilding squad. 2-3 years from now Kreider's contract is an albatross, and if Fast gets even a little worse, where is he when he's already a bottom 6 player?

Get a first and a prospect for Kreider, a late second for Fast, an early third for Lias.

Kreider is a better player than Strome, but Strome is younger, plays center and has chemistry with Panarin. Very tough. Also Fast and Kreider are guys we have no replacements for. Chytil can replace Strome. In a perfect world we keep all 3, they are good middle six players, and good locker room guys. I really wish we could keep all our players, I like this group.

I initially voted Strome, yet I'm not offering 5 years.

At 5x5 I'm passing.

In which case I vote for none.
