RD Simon Johansson - Djurgardens IF, SHL (148th, MIN, 2018)

He was available last year too so if they didn't like him then they will not like him now. Maybe too slow, I don't know? Skilled PP guy with good hockey sense. Good shot. Is a lot like David Bernhardt who the Flyers picked from the same team.

apparently a converted forward a la K'Andre Miller, so he is probably behind a bit(or a lot) defensively.

Was just named Best Dman at the 4 nations U20, I think, though that's a pretty small sample size.

Liked him at the 4 nations but had no clue he used to be a forward. Anyone know when he switched? And also, he’s the brother of Filip right

I think I read 3 years ago, but don't quote me on that. No relation to Filip.

Needs to work on his defensive game. Offensively, I like his shot from the point. Has good offensive instincts but needs to take the body a little better and improve his gap control off the rush.

fair enough however wouldn't you agree with his tools & alot of hard work he could be a 5th rnd steal?

Not really, no. Neither are highly regarded at this time. Time will tell...the SHL can be a great place develop Dmen.

Johansson had limited icetime in the SHL, but after he was loaned to the Allsvenskan, he's scoring almost a point per game, what means he's among the leagues best offensive defenseman

Emil Andrae is 2 years younger and scored around 0,5 pts per game in the Allsvenskan. Of course, Andrae is a way better prospect, but both are offensive dmen. so ... just saying.

so that's what the stats are saying. any more opinions? His contract is expiring. will the Wild sign him?

On the plus side, Wild do not have to makes decision on signing him until next summer.

While I haven't seen him play, given the fact that as a 21-year-old he was not a prominent player for a middle of the pack SHL team my impression is that he would need a strong off-season and big year in 2021-22 to earn an NHL contract.

Interesting that the Wild signed him following his season in Finland.
