I saw Dylan Griffing (covers Russian prospects) list him as a preseason standout, and then I saw he was a 6’4 defenseman who played 36 games in the MHL last year… so I was wondering if anyone had more info on this kid
(@Caser ?)

My initial thoughts on him are that there's a solid base to work off of, but he definitely, definitely needs to add more quickness. He's a good defender, obviously a big kid, so he typically has the range and physical advantage and plays accordingly. East-West mobility is pretty good for a player of his size, as well, so he's apt against the rush and in-zone defense is good. I was quite impressed with some of the plays he was making with the puck, he has good hands and is a fluid (but slow) mover which lets him gain an initial advantage over forecheckers and he makes good reads on passes most times. The lack of speed limits his ability to actually break away and lead rushes, but he's at least a good breakout passer.

Not a high-end prospect or anything right now, but he stood out to me and should be getting decent minutes with MHK Dynamo this year.

He made a lot of blunders last season. Kind of a train wreck too often. But in the very short sample I’ve seen this season, he’s been really impressive. Especially his skating and especially in the Amurskie game. He had an end to end rush in the 2nd that looked like Simashev. Shot out of a cannon.

Is his father the Olympic wrestling champion? The Olympian has a son named Arsen who would be about the same age, I think. The wrestler is also very large. 6’3 and was a super heavy.

yes, good observation, sits in the State Duma now
I couldn’t find anything that confirmed without a doubt. No photos or anything that mentioned Hockey. I’d love to get 100% confirmation like that.

There’s a difinite resemblence too.

Spent a couple of minutes googling him.
He started to play hockey in Vladikavkaz
This article mentions him playing there and his famous father.

Exactly what I was hoping to read. Thank you!

Traded to the Ak Bars Kazan organization.
the blackhawks prospect pool is short on RD and There 2 focus are size on the backend and skating compared to size. Ie they want everybody AVG to above AVG when you factor size. Nazar Lardis Are elite skaters but small. he is a guy I would not mind the hawks taking with one of there 3rd rounds. do you think that is roughly were he goes? 67 or 73

I'm not sure, I think of him as more of a late round candidate, as to be honest this season he didn't convince me there is something high-end about him aside of the size.
