If we go based on what the plan was, adding a stiffer type of player to the roster and organization, then he gets a resounding A.

Didn't do anything stupid in FA, another plus.

The return on Buch was less than stellar, so he gets a knock, but if that was the best offer out there that says more about player than GM.

Playing his cards right (thus far) on the Eichel situation.

I don't like Drury, but I can't knock him really at all

As SML2 says, I don't think you can really rate a GM before a season has been played, but in a vacum:
- Removing Quinn = good
- Hiring Gallant = good
- Howden trade = good
- Goodrow trade = good
- Go0drow contract = ok
- Draft = good
- Buch trade = poor
- FA period so far = ok/good

Too early and with Eichel still out there it's an incomplete. I didn't like the Buch return and didn't like not drafting a center but do like that he is trying to get the team to have more defined roles and different types of players.

Honestly, i have definitely not been overly impressed. There is still a decent amount he can do to right the ship but as of this day I can’t give him anymore more than a C-

Buch trade was a fail, draft was below average, FA signings were average.

He scored a point for not outbidding LA for the 3rd line center though.

C/incomplete. Hard to give a rating at this point in the off-season. He’s been pretty bad so far between the Goodrow signing and the Buch trade. We still have like 15m in cap space though so probably aren’t done. If we get Eichel or another top 6 center at a good price could see this going to like a B+/A-. If we don’t use the space or make another dumb move it’s more like an F

By nature, this is a conservative man. He will play to close to the vest and slow play through his hand. In the case of the McD TB deal, Gorton took what he could at the 11th hour. By comparison, I wouldn’t expect Drury to.

Then they had more than enough cap flexibility to keep him for now and not disrupt our chemistry as much

He’s done okay. Much better than past free agencies. Didn’t give out too much money. Kids are still here. I give him a B.

D+, if not for Gallant it would easily be an F. How many times have we seen teams go tits up because they think they have to sacrifice skill, speed, and assets for grit?

For Sather, I mean, because Drury is clearly a puppet.

How is trading Howden for a 4th a win?

They literally could have just waived him received nothing and it would be essentially the same thing expect maybe he'd clear waivers and be a quad A player for their AHL team, where they also have no centers.

It's hard to rate Drury because I honestly don't think he's calling the shots. I'm sure I'll get a lot of shit for saying this, but a good deal of these moves REEK of Glen Sather's tobacco stained, papery, old man fingers.
