I'm not usually one for violent retribution, but someone should have jumped Pionk after that play at some point during the 3rd. I was hoping Richie would have knocked his head off. There were so many fights but nobody was going after that rat Pionk. He's a dirty player, hopefully he gets dealt with next time they play.
yea unless you have a guy willing to have a cup of coffee and get suspended forever, that just doesn't happen. What people think enforcers do and what they really do is way different.

If you can find a Michael Haley with no disregard for their own careee that's fine, but we currently do not have one.

I am not as expert as 34, but that really, really looks bad....And agreed, that kid was playing some brilliant hockey.

I missed the whole game, and I am stunned with seeing that filthy rat knee,, and the unbelievable scene of Dubois on top of Matthews...

I think Pionk should get a lifetime suspension and Dubois a ten to twenty game suspension.

So happy I missed the game... I think I would have broken some things..

I have always hated the city and the team, but its at record levels after seeing those two incidents.

Absolutely disgraceful....

The reason I quit hockey is I went Wayne Maki on people if they pulled bull888t llke that on me...

That's exactly how a bad knee injury looks unfortunately. Hopefully it's just a scare. The most predatory kind of intentional collisions never seem to be identified by the league.

edit: Okay, I've calmed down over seeing the hit this morning. Sandin moved at the last second trying to avoid getting hit square. It's very upsetting seeing that injury but it wasn't predatory.

Speeza took a run at him on the next shift and could possibly get a suspension for it and I think PM only gave Pionk only PP time after that play.
I fully believe that he will be challenged the next time the Leafs play the Jet's in late March similar to how they handled the Edler hit on Hyman last year.
I believe the Leaf's players took numbers and when they watch the replay on how the Jets players reacted at the end of the game they may add a few to the list starting with 55 and 26

Depends how bad it is. A full ACL reconstruction is a serious procedure.

for sure! My ACL reconstruction took me about 6-7 months. But my friend it only took him about 4 months. So it really depends on the severity of it. Mine was a complete tear also tore the meniscus

Just because Sandin quickly realized that f***er is coming at him doesn't mean it's not predatory. It was intentional and he also has a history of trying to knee our players. He almost destroyed Marner last year while he scored on an empty netter ffs.

I hope Simmonds or someone knocks out this piece of shit.

What knee was his bad knee prior to this?

I would like to know as well. Either way, this will not make his slow skating any faster.

The bright side is, without forcing Sandin into every lineup, this will finally allow the Leafs to play their best possible D pairs:

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Liljegren
Dermott-Holl

Acl surgeries have come a long way. I had an ACL reconstruction and minisectomy (cartilage was gone) back in 85. Took me over a year to get active again and the atrophy was terrible. I went from 25 inch quads to 25 and 19 inch quads.
That said, a knee on knee is more likely an MCL. 2 to 8 weeks depending on severity. Then there is conditioning.

Late headshot to Marner late in the last game here. Now knee to knee on Sandin. Should get more that what Edler got for his knee on knee hit on Hyman. Did not look good. Expecting the worst but hoping for the best.

It might not have been predatory, but he shifted into Rasmus. A very stupid and dangerous play that looks to have an awful result.

until suspensions get revised, this will never stop...
either suspensions need to be served at the discretion of the offended team
i.e. the affected team can pick when the player sits, either immediately, or in games vs them, or a combo of the 2
OR
the player is suspended (without pay) until the hurt player is healthy. (this has always been the way i think it should work)

...option 2 would actually stop intentional attacks (except by goons or the like), but, it could be difficult to prove the malicious intent

Does not matter if it was intentional or not .. Keefer knows how to tap someone or two on shoulder and say its time .. he spent his entire hockey career from time he was 6 dealing with these type of issues in Brampton .. it can't be up to Spezz to settle it up .. right or wrong .. intentional or unintentional .. from that point on game was WAR .. better to have sent message to REF and league with 10 guys in penalty box rest of game .. this was same REF who screwed us over in Boston and turned away from many acts of violence against Leafs and let everything go .. well guess what REF/leagues who act like that deserve a good donnybrook .. 2 guys should have filled in Pionk until he lost a few teeth and had a broken jaw and then let him lay on ice in his blood concussed .. that was ONLY way to finish that game .. that sends and leaves a distinct message to ALL

When will we generally find out?
The details of the injury most likely will not be disclosed, just how long he is expected to be out. They will just say lower body. Unless it is in fact the ACL and he is done for the year. Then they may say it.

It looks bad though. Hoping for a Contusion and that is the grunt of it. Quick recovery.

Yeah and then come March 31st when these two teams meet again, they aim for Matthews’ head. Great idea. Clifford, Ritchie, Simmonds, Bunting and Spezza stepped up like they should have (minus Spezza, but it was nice to see).

That was not stepping up well at least not in hockey world I played in ..

Luckily Dubas didn't move Holl or Dermott after all, huh?

It was a virtual guarantee they'd have injuries on the blueline throughout the season and considering how competitive the Atlantic is, the Leafs can't afford to be short-handed for any length of time. Depth is more than a good thing, it's vital.

Holl can still leave. I'm sure there is a Marlie that can get thrown on the bottom pair.
