Sorry if this was posted, just to good to let it pass. Did anyone notice this??

Price goals against avg: 2:23
Rask goals against avg: 2:23

Price record: 37-20-5
Rask record: 37-20-5

Price goals against: 138
Rask goals against: 137

While Price had a better save% .923 to Rasks .915, Tuukku had 8 shutouts to Prices 3.

Damn, those two great goaltenders were so close, practically identical, I just had to give it a thread of its own.

Normally I would have simply moved this post to the existing Tuukka thread but these numbers are fascinating. The perception in hockey is the Habs live or die with Price but the reality is the Bruins do the same with Rask. Rask won the WBZ-FM 98.5 Three Stars Cup this year which can't be discounted.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Oh, you're kindly welcome sir..I noticed it a couple hours ago, In fact I was checking out every stat I could find on Anderson. While Sens only scored 11 against us, we scored just 6 against them,.1.5 goals per game. That's why Blith{sp} would of been a great call up if he didn't get injured.

When I noticed this, I thought I was seeing double, absolutely astonished by how close they were. So I went to another different site than Yahoo and it had same stats. But I'm happy you enjoyed it and hope others do too.. Cheers my friend!

Let's go back one week to the Tampa Bay game when Marchand went over the line. The Bruins won that game and Tuukka was huge factor ( He was the #1 star ) - Way it played out if Tampa had won that game they might have made the playoffs and we would be golfing.

These numbers simply suggest that Tuukka Rask is just as important to the Bruins as Price is to Montreal.

If all scores stayed the same except TB beat us, we would be out because we're the only team that could beat Tampa at the time. They won so many before us and the last 3 games.

TB has 94, we have 93, if they beats us in regulation, we finish with 93 pts, TB 96pt and Leafs have 95, I very much doubt we get in.

Everyone else loses to them BUT Tuukku and the Bruins win 4-0!!! Love what Marchand and Pastrnak done all season but Tuukku is our MVP in the mind of this person!!

this is rather insane and terribly interesting. I have to think the chances of two goalies, let alone starters or otherwise who post stats as identical as this is exceptionally rare

Tuukka played 3 more games and had 2 assists to price. Price faced more shots though....

But I thought Carey was the best in the league and tuukka sucks

No - that's actually true... You see the Bruins play a defensive style that makes every single shot on Tuukka come from either the boards, or from outside the zone.

Every shot Price faces, on the other hand is from the slot, while being screened... And he still saves them all. Only lets in goals that bounce off his defenseman's ass or stick.

Yet, I would still take Price as my goalie any day of the week, including but not limited to 10 times on Sundays.

Best in the world is not determined by measley stats, but rather the logo on the front of the jersey. Or at least that's what I can tell, well I know it's not stats.

Have you seen Price's playoff numbers vs Rask's?

People saying Rask is as good as Price are drinking too much kool-aid.

However Rask did take his Bergeron-injured Bruins to the finals in 2013 against the Hawks and really in the playoffs he's been outstanding. Price is the best with Holtby right there. Rask is one level below but that's not an insult.

See, no stats needed.

Yeah! Lets eliminate stats altogether. First one to go is goals scored per game. Instead, we can elect winners according to eye test, popularity amongst teenagers, "classiness" of the uniforms, and level of delusion of the fan base. That way, Toronto and The Toilet Seats can make the finals every year!

The Rask vs. Price is a rather silly argument anyway- you put a good team in front of either one and you have a shot at a cup, you put a crap team in front of either one and you don't. There is just not that much difference between the two at the end of the day. Both are franchise type goalies who can make a good team great and a poorer one better as I would argue both have done this year.

Probably should put all the stats in...

Price's save percentage is better because he faced almost 200 shots more in 3 fewer games. That's a pretty significant stat.

On the flipside, Rask's 8 shutouts, and Vezina-like numbers in the beginning of the season, somehow ended up with a fairly average SV%, shows how bad he struggled when he did.

Anyways, another day to worry about Tuukka's stats. It's all irrelevant today. Here's hoping to Tuukka's next 16+ games to be absolutely amazing (or hoping so at least!)

Habs fan coming in peace. I think you meant Saturdays. Price is something like 30-3 on Saturdays over the last 3 seasons.

I have always considered Rask and Price to be similar. Drafted same year- played against each other in world jrs etc. Both very effective. Price is calmer- I love watching Rask lose it on occasion. He has been my keeper goalie in a fantasy hockey league since just before Tim Thomas left. I watch lots of bruins games, he can start on my team anyday.

I am curious to see how Price does in a Claude Julien system with more of a sample size.

Hope to see you guys in a round 2 matchup

Thanks! I hope the Rags blow your doors off and it makes Carey cry. :naughty:

Still cheering for B's in round one. I live in Ottawa and its a three way tie for what annoys me the most. The Sens, their fans and the local media.

You sure you don't want a chance to go up against CJ in round 2
