Rants is ahead in .ppg and has played less games but they are now 11th and 12th in league scoring.
FWIW.. I still think Rantanen has more to give and this is just a weird blip. I'm definitely pro Necas.. but am NOT anti Rants.. I really enjoy him and agree he is a superstar.
Carolina isn't going to pull their offer.
Even if he plays like trash and waits until the offseason, he's still a lock for at minimum a ~$70 mil contract, because if he somehow makes it to free agency the Avs would find a way to fit him back in at $10 mil x 7 yr contract.

Rantanen also has a massive amount of empty net points and played with MacKinnon/Makar constantly.
Rantanen doing his best to reduce his next contract's AAV—a true team player.

This is just so curious case when the player himself thought he's better and worth more than what is reality, gotta give it to MacK for lifting other players up. It's even more obvious when you see Necas playing with him.

it speaks to chemistry and how just having great players doesn't mean you'll have a great team or have success.
Definitely a misjudgement on Carolina's part. I've only watched 1 game but he seems like he doesn't fit with the system at all. I do wonder if anything changes if this trade happened before training camp.
People were sucking on Tlusty's c*** after this trade, but it looks like he got sold a bill of goods for an expired product.
Rantanen is proving he was a product of MacK and Makar and Carolina has zero star power and Rantanen doesn't drive the game. Sakic rightfully read the room here and traded him before making a terrible offer, just like Tampa did with Stamkos. Colorado doesn't look like it missed a beat with Necas.
