Did anybody here see Nečas on World Championship 2024 in Prague? I mostly watch international team and our czech league and NHL wasnt in centre of my intrest , so I was surprised by him. Of cause I randomly watched NHL too and names like Pastrňák, Zacha, Krejčí, Hertl and others, name Nečas propably was too in TV etc, but from that point, when i saw his skill, I became fan and started watching whole NHL. Finaly thats reason, why I registred here, so I can get from first hand, what world mean about czech hockey.... Funny Is, that this Martin Badweather ( that NEČAS exactly means in our language) Is from town maybe 60 miiles from me and I am also Martin. This trade malé me happy, because many experta from our country said, that Canes dont see his potential and he has not enough space for growing, So maybe now he will show, US3. Yeah And one last thing..... Sorry fór my english, I have not many chances to use it and writing Is total pain in ass, but I dont want to use translators, but rather train it. I hope Its understable And there is not many big mistakes!

No worries your English is very good!

I feel there is a lot of excitement and maybe some pressure for Necas to continue to get better and be that real star that Czech hockey needs moving forward. Obviously Pastrnak is still the man and there are other good players like Zacha and Hertl - but that youth group from 2017-18 drafts should have been the new core and outside of Necas - you have 1st rounders in Zadina, Chytil and Kaut. Chytil is solid but always hurt but the other two just major disappointments. So, it's really up to Necas to be the leader moving forward.

Also seems like a big void of real impact players for many years after the 2018 draft - 2019, 2020, 2021 - not looking too hot. Hope with the 2022 class with Kulich and Jiricek (eek?). But it just makes it so important for Necas to become as great as possible.

Your English is very good. I understood your post and its point. I’m happy Necas did well yesterday. I think he will excel on the Avs.

Thanks guys, we ate mall country (10 milion) in heart od Europe ( I dont know if you know something about us, but usualy nobody knows) and that means less talents, but our football (you propably say soccer) taste like old dudes shit, but from some reason we have ice hockey deep in DNA, culture and hearts too and it means for us a lot. Of course there is much more good skaters and goalies too, now I see Radko Gudas, JJ68, Roman Hamrlík,, Havlát, Plekanec, Hašek and sure I am missing many young boys. Pasta Is in my eyes legend, not only for skills, but because he accepted less money for good relationships (what a beautyfull situation, when i see Rantanen - hope that thé name Is written correctly, I dont want to bully him, Its only his choose and nobody should).... But I want to say one different and important think. I really wanna see Badweather grow and live his american dream, but I like thinking careful, and absolutely im not sure, that it s done. There is so much challenges in front of him.... We patriots see around Martin tons of pottenciál and great mindset, but sometimes it sadly is not enough. He is hard working guy, who is thinking not only about own profit, but often rather pass and let be hero friend and Its Reason, why he should get chance from any Avs fan, no metters how big Is his disapoitment from that exchange.
Here is something from that World Championship. Did I saíd before, he Is world Champion? Do sou even watch this ?

Esspecialy Swedden must hate him, he made 4 points at semifinals

And ať the end i must say, that now im sure, this text Is full of mistakes 😄

Yup, been ugly as hell. Necas is the last full timer the Czechs have created. The next was ivan Ivan but I assume he's now in AHL for awhile. After that it is likely Kulich (who is killing it). But that is a 7 year hole filled with disapointment (Zadina, Kaut, Zboril, Hajek and Chytil is one hit away from being done IMO).

The Czech dream (ok, my dream.lol) is that Pasta and Necas become Kucherov/Kaprizov lite! Eg. 2 top 10 scorers on the Wing. The C depth is not Mack/McD levels by any stretch but Kulich is now being played as a 1C and will join Hertl and Zacha in a nice top 3 spine (and Chytil as another top 3 option).

So, yes, we need Necas to continute to take that step. I've noticed a lot of people are saying he's never been a top 10 scorer while somehow missing that it is January 27th and he's in the top 10 in scoring.lol I, personally, don't see a reason for him to drop out of the top 20 this season and think Top 10 is reasonable.

On a funny note, they interviewed his Dad in the Czech Republic and he mentioned that no one gets less ice than Necas and it's true.. no one in the top 20 has less ice time than Necas. Colorado has played him pretty heavy so hopefully his minutes go up too!

Another point is, that at past he was few times described like little bit mentaly unstable and brittle or fragile, I am not sure about right word, but you will understand me. But it was long time ago and ať the World Championship they spoke about this like about solved problem , so I belive, that new city and team can make him focused to right directuin..... But speaking about not so positive aspects of life is one of the best ways forward!. Anyway we will see

Im sad to see how many guys are all of a sudden ripping Rantanen. Guy is on Draisaitl's level imo. Sure he benefits from ripping onsies and his choked up tip drill goals from the Dawg and Makar, but he is an incredible gamer himself. His vision is unbelievable. Get him a finisher and watch his apples climb quickly.

Czech names are for english speakers sure pain in ass, we often have to laugh, how you spell them, but sometimes are funny too. To you know, what Nečas means?
You said, I think, storm. But I thought it was 'no time'. Welcome to HF btw.. in the international section there is lots about Czech hockey. They have a Czech moderator who is excellent.

You are right, when we take it literaly, it will be translated to english like Notime. (No = Ne) and (Time = Čas), thats why Notime. But this way it nobody uses in real speech. Its historicaly many years understood, known adn used like when you wanna say, that outside is terrible weather and you have no good opinion, how to spend time. You are loosing that time, because weather, so we say Nečas = Badweather. Its absolutely not important, but I love, when somebody foreigners try to understand it. Sorry for long nonsens text.

And you are not from czechia? So why the nick?

Avs fans are coping a fair bit (naturally)... but the Rantanen criticism is not completely off-base, or sudden for that matter. Rantanen increasingly has a tendency to have a disengaged playstyle, and that (perceived) lack of commitment is frustrating on a struggling team. I remember the board being on his ass in last year's playoffs and floating trading him away (despite him getting 14 points in 11 games!).

He's still a superstar who can pot 50 or be your best playmaker depending on your team needs, and I think that the Canes will happily deal with his deficiencies if they get that. He'll probably be pretty fired up as well, more than he's been in the last couple years.

Yeah, I saw it earlier before, that he may have some issues, but I never judge nobody, if dont hurt others. He can have his own reasons, which nobody understood, so why make problems? Wanna more money? Ok. Good luck, here you go big star. I think it can be for him great opportunity. One door are closed, another door will open....

It's not a sour grapes thing, I didn't think Rantanen was nearly as good as the point totals suggested.

That said, his motivation was what I really questioned. Carolina may get the more dominant Rantanen we saw a couple of years ago.

Except it's now late January and Necas still tied for 10th in NHL scoring, despite mostly playing with plugs in Carolina instead of Alex Ovechkin
Necas would have played with Aho if he had the hockey iq to keep up with Aho's plays but he didn't.
3on3 he was monster with Aho because there is enough time and room to make skilled plays.
5on5 the play died on Necas' stick too much for him to be playing on top line.

I think he is, but Im also biased being in Denver having attack twice season tickets for the past decade watching him more than any player in the league. Ive also made the same argument against Draisaitl for years, so I understand it. Only big difference is Rantanen gets the big matchups because him and MacKinnon are mostly glued together. Draisiatil always has McDavid or without weaker matchups when they are separated.

Nothing but i was just explaining why Necas played with "plugs" and not on top-line. It was mostly on him. The spot was open but he didn't take it.
Looks to me like this year he hardly even got tried there this year outside of maybe a game? Not even that

That is pretty bad. Which line stands out? lol
The line that says he literally played zero minutes 5v5 with Aho as his center lol

He had enough chances and it was mostly the same as earlier seasons. Aho has elevated pretty much every linemate he plays with but Necas never looked good with him.
