That makes it a tough one. Strome for Spooner is looking ridiculous.Yeah that's why I think we shouldn't be expanding on the actual parameters of the deals when we evaluate them.

Yes, but there was grousing about the two draft picks. I think that Gorton identified what he wanted and aggressive in getting it.The Fox trade is knocked down a peg because he pretty much forced the trade here. Gorton still deserves credit because he could have chosen to wait until this upcoming summer to flat out sign him for nothing, but taking no chances and trading for him a year early was obviously 100% worth it.
I’m gonna keep draft picks off the list. I’d give the lion’s share of the credit to scouts on those. Is drafting Chytil at 21st overall eligible to be added, or is it limited to transactions he's had involving other teams?
I think some people dock a bit of credit considering he WANTED to come here.Getting Adam Fox should be running away with this imo

Going out and aggressively getting him, though, is why that move is so good. He could’ve waited and risked him getting wooed by someone else, but instead he paid a bit of a price to get him now, and obviously it was the right move.
I feel like we should establish that you can't "take the next step" on these. Like, The Nash trade, you shouldn't be able to consider that Spooner became Strome, as that's listed separately. And the draft picks, the result of them, that's separate, too.
Or we don't care.![]()

I think all three moves are neck and neck. The Nash trade is so good because he acquired a young D who is playing like a top-4 staple for a rental. With the Stepan trade, it’s a bit more expected to get good value out of it as Stepan was viewed as a top-6 center moving forward and was signed. Obviously, Gorton went above and beyond getting “good” value, he got all time value. And Stepan turning into a pumpkin makes it even more a heist. Beautifully timed and executed move. Some of that. Some of the rarity of what ADA is doing. Some of the value of getting a 7th pick (what happened notwithstanding). Some of the $12 million in savings and what it allowed us to do. Some of the decline of Stepan.
But they're very close for me. In fact, they're closer than the Nash trade --- which I really like, but it currently based more on hope than results. The results we're getting from both ADA and Fox are nothing short of exceptional. So even if Miller and Lindgren turns out to be an exceptional return, it's not there yet for me.
But I could more or less rank either the ADA or the Fox trades second. It's not really a divisive issue for me.
Tough choice between ADA and Fox trades.
One a point producing beast with a nasty edge.
The other is quickly developing into a top paid defender.
Went with Fox trade and I hated dealing g two 2nds at the time
