Prospect Info: Ranking #7

Didnt realize Heard was solid defensively. The game I caught he seemed to take himself out of position quite a bit going for a hit. Gave up a goal as well. He just seemed eratic. Reminded me of a less talented Downie. I did like how he stuck up for his teammate though, despite getting an extra 2 minutes and taking away a PP chance. I thought Henley seemed to play smart the entire Memorial cup, while still throwing his body around. The dude is a shot blocking machine as well with his size and willingness. I feel confident in saying that he will be in the NHL as, at the very least, a teams top PK. I didn't get that same "he will be in the NHL" vibe from Heard.

Granted, the sample size is very small. I sure wish Altitude would show Lake Erie games. How hard could it be? There has got to be some sort of game film even if its not shot for TV. Teams study tape and share game film with each other, don't they?

Voted Bourke. Partially because I don't really know much about the rest of these prospects and partially because NHL14 lists him with a bit better potential.

You can watch them online by buying the AHL's gamecenter, I think it's called AHL Live. They usually take the Jumbotron feed and add the radio commentating. The Lake Erie games are annoying because the camera angle is terrible. It's really low and zoomed in so you don't really get to see the play develop much. Occasionally, FS-Ohio (I think it's them) broadcasts some games.

That AHL Gamecenter is more expensive than the NHL's. Outrageous.

The Avs don't own the Monsters and the people who would watch those games in Denver probably equal the number of people reading this thread. There are streams sometimes but I listened a lot on the radio. I'm going to try hockeystreams this year because I want to watch some junior games too so I hope to watch a lot more.

I've been voting for Geertsen, will keep voting for him. I don't know enough about these players, but I watched him play 3 times and always liked him. Really think he can become a good, second pairing defenseman and is a relatively safe bet. Apples and oranges, though. All crapshoots now.

I think there is a fluid line between Avs and Monsters at times. Rendulic is on an ELC with Avs and not on a AHL contract with Monsters said this:

"I spoke with David Oliver from the Avalanche's management. We spoke a few times, he was watching me in Finland and I just liked the guy and he said they were searching for a player like me. I think that he can help me become an NHL hockey player."

David Oliver probably has some mandate to scout and recruit players like Rendulic.

Yes of course they work together. I mean as in a sense that many NHL teams actually own their affiliates and therefore KSE might have incentive to broadcast the Monsters if that were the case.

Is David Oliver the same guy who used to play for the Oilers?
