The Beatles
There isn't a gap within the top 5, all are neck and neck for me, just depends on how I'm feeling atm. Abbey Road was first for a few years but atm it's 4th. In a few months maybe it'll be 1st again.
Tier 1
1- Revolver- Paul and John were at the top of their games on this one, and Harrison contributed 3 good songs too. From Eleanor Rigby and Tomorrow Never Knows to the underrated For No One, and She Said She Said.
2- Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band- The first few times I listened to it I felt it was overrated. That is had a great start and finish, but now the middle section is my favorite. Just flows together perfectly and always hits the spot.
3- Rubber Soul- Lennon really killed it on this one. In My Life is my favorite Beatles song. Help was them beginning to change as a band, and Rubber Soul was their first masterpiece.
4- Abbey Road- I wanted to put it first, but I have been listening to the other Beatles albums more lately. It's great and doesn't have a weakness, besides maybe Maxwell's Silver Hammer. The Medley at the end is one of the best things the band ever did.
5- White Album- Huge cluster ****, but it's awesome. Can't go wrong with 30 Beatles songs. Some really odd ones but that's what makes the White Album what it is. Also has some of my favs.
Tier 2
6- Magical Mystery Tour- Collection of songs they recorded before and after Pepper. Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, etc. It sounds more like a greatest hits album than anything else to me.
7- Help- This is where you can tell they started to change. From Beatlemania to songwriters.
8- A Hard Days Night- Fun album. The best album from the Beatlemania period.
9- Let it Be- Has some very good songs, but it lacks what the other great Beatles albums had. Still a good listen from time to time.
Tier 3
10- Please Please Me- The first one. I saw her standing there, twist and shout, etc.
11- Beatles For Sale- Some solid songs, but also had a lot of songs I don't care for, especially cover songs.
12- With the Beatles- Pretty much the same as BFS. Not a bad album by any means, but compared to their other stuff it doesn't stack up at all.
