I dont think the rest of them reaches 17 combined.
I think people already forget what prime Ovi was. No Ovi didn't have Lemieux with him but he certainly had talent to work with. I think he's clearly number 1 on my list though

I have Jagr over him in this, some might argue other guys, but he's gotta be top 2.

How are you gonna have a guy who played on the Canadiens in the 50s above Ovechkin? The level of competition was a joke compared to the modern era and Beliveau played on the cheat team.

Ovechkin has 17 individual awards, 9 maurice richards! Beliveau got 6 individual awards. Theyre not even close.

Beliveau has that cup pedigree. Not saying he wasn't great, but when you win that much it tends to create a legend.

Most people are going to have Ovie and Beliveau in the 5-10 alltime category.

For those who don’t know, Jean Bealiveau was a 6’3” 205lb center who was good at everything, with an Yzerman/Crosby-like stature as a leader. He would be a prototypical hockey superstar, #1 draft pick franchise player even in today’s era.

Yes he won Cups with the 1950s dynasty. He also won four Cups in the late 1960s where the roster wasn’t nearly as stacked, and again in 1971. The common element in the Habs having that insane run of Stanley Cups was not Richard, not Plante, not Harvey, not Lafleur. Those guys came and went. Beliveau was the franchise.

Most people who have watched and understand hockey for a while would.

Difficult to compare players from vastly different eras. Only fair way to do it is to imagine those older players having trained and played in the current era.

With that in mind...

1) Jaromir Jagr
2) Alexander Ovechkin
3) Guy Lafleur
4) Bobby Hull
5) Jean Beliveau
6) Maurice Richard
7) Marcel Dionne

Having spoken many times with my father who watched Richard, Hull, Beliveau, Dionne, etc. He often compared Ovechkin to Hull, but said that the former had more talent and was more physical.

He was a Habs fan for most of his life, but when he spoke of Beliveau, Richard, and Lafleur, he always cited Lafleur has having been the most talented. He'd say he could have had a greater career but he wasn't that fond of hockey.

I put Jagr above Ovechkin because I think overall Jagr was a better hockey player, but Ovechkin is definitely in the top 3 goalscorers in NHL history... maybe number one.

The only player in your list that could arguably be placed higher than Ovechkin is Jagr.

Well, that's a terribad opinion if I ever read one

You can rank them however you like but I feel like you can easily argue for Béliveau, Lafleur, Bobby Hull and Maurice Richard being above Ovechkin, historically.

And I have Jagr being at the top of the list, obviously
