30 points is great but i'm more excited about fox's growth on the defensive side.
He’s fantastic with reading the play, his positioning and his stick play in the defensive zone. So many plays he breaks up because he anticipates it or makes the smart stick play. Kind of similar to prime Stralman.

He’s proof you can be a solid defensive defenseman even if you’re undersized.

Especially since most of this team's kids and prospects are defensemen. We could survive Andersson busting, but it is critical that Chytil becomes at least a 2C. Chytil-Kakko-Fox-Shesterkin is really the foundation of this team's next 5-10 years.

I'd add Kravtsov as well to this foundation cause if he busts as well like Lias has, that will leave some skid marks on the rebuild.

I'm still pretty confident about him but I'll feel alot better if and when next year during training camp, he comes into camp looking like he went thru some intense strength and stamina training(he and Kakko can do it together...lol) and he earns a spot in the top 6.

Buchnevich has sneakily had a pretty awesome season. On pace for a career-high in points, ATOI up 1:26 from last season, great fancy-stats, and he's only making $3.25M.

I kind of just meant that in terms of 1 player per position. If Kravstov busts that would absolutely not be good.

Alright you’ve kind of convinced me.

There ya go Buchie...that wasn't so hard now was it? I've been in sales for 30+ years and it's not because I haven't been able to convince peeps to go along with my way of thinking on occassion...lol.

In all seriousness, winning always trumps losing...it always has and always will no matter the sport. And this team of ours is primed and ready with a little bit more tinkering here and there to be a major factor on who wins the Cup or not for the next 7-10 years beginning next year with us hopefully taking home the hardware and having a parade or two ourselves along the way...:)

Good lord, given the amazing performance by Shestyorkin, people are truly diminishing Georgiev even though he’s playing real solid by NHL standards.

First world goalie problems

You have to think our goaltending has to be the envy of the league. Most teams are fortunate to have a solid #1 keeper that they can rely upon...right? And if you look around the league I'd say that half to maybe 20 teams have reliable no doubt about it #1 guys.

To have two guys who can be your #1 guy is a luxury that you can count on one hand who has that kind of situation.

But for a team like ours to have THREE goalies who can all be the #1 guy is so rare that it might be unprecedented as I can't think of any team, not that I've researched it to be honest, in the past 20 or so years, that has had a situation like ours.

I mean our goalie situation is so good and our goalies are so good that we are actually looking to trade one of them. A quick shout out to Benny Alaire...thank the good lord he is in our corner and not on some other teams as it's not coincidence that who ever is between the pipes for us end up either being a Hall of Famer or just damn good at keeping pucks out of the net...just sayin!

I said it a few days ago but think of this as well and yes I'm going to be jumping the gun a bit but f*** it, I'm pretty damn confident we have the right guy in Shesterkin but how many teams can say that their goaltending is set for 20-25 years as we just might be if Shesty is as good as we think he'll be...right?

You have Hank's 13 years of elite goaltending(I'm not counting the past 2 years cause he hasn't been elite let's be honest) and than you add what hopefully will be 10-13 years of elite goaltending from Igor....my lord, that's a quarter of a century of great production at the most important position in the sport.

Now we need to win a f***ing Cup or god forbid two for all this uber goaltending of ours to actually mean something....lol

How were we totally dominated? Were there 2 games going on tonight? I saw a ranger team that outplayed their opponent the last 2 periods even though they were down 2. I agree with most of the things you post but I don't understand how people say we were outplayed.

OK I'll give you this. I might have embellished a bit that we were dominated tonight after that 1st period. The 1st period we weren't even there seemingly as we were lucky it was only 2-1 as the Wild looked like they had the puck in our end of the ice 80% of the time.

The 2nd and 3rd periods I didn't see us dominating them at all tho I did see more of a 50/50 type of split in puck possession. So overall I thought the Wild played quite a bit better than us and I still contend it was grand theft larceny that we came out that arena with a W but to your point maybe we didn't get dominated as much as I initially eluded too.

Bottom line is we got a W we didn't IMO really deserve tho there are plenty of games we have dominated opposing teams and lost. So we'll gladly take it and let's keep this sweet run of ours going so that in March, we are playing those important almost playoff type games so that the kiddies of ours get to experience what it's like to play in those types of intense games which are alot different than games played in November thru January.

Haha yea I mean life is short. I’m only 23, but I want to watch a winning team for as long as possible. I don’t want to be like the Sabres or the Oilers either.

Dude...all good. Your a young pup still and for the most part all you have seen is Ranger teams that have been damn good and close enough to sniff a Cup a time or two.

As someone who is old enough to be your Pop at 56 years young, I've been thru the ringer with this team of ours. Over the years and I'm sure anyone close to my age will attest too, this team has driven most of us absolutaly nuts. We've always had teams that have teased us into thinking "this is the year" and than they ended up breaking your heart.

They would also have these years where they were very mediocre and somehow sneak into the playoffs and than they would go on these long playoff runs to where once again they'd tease and have you thinking of Cups and it wouldn't happen.

Of course we had that one magical year in '94 which you weren't even around for but as you know that's been it despite a bushel full of playoff years with some very long playoff runs but no cigar at the end.

Good news tho is this is the first rebuild I've ever witnessed that has been done the right way to where there really is a trajectory to where the hope for a Cup or two in the next 10 years is real and should not be a surprise.

For a long time Ranger fan like me to actually think the possibility of a parade or two down the Canyon of Hero's is possible is possible says alot to how well this rebuild has been going.

A little bit more patience is required but I truly do believe you, me and the rest of Ranger Nation sometime or two in the next decade will be rewarded for our loyalty. So keep on rooting for wins and not losses like some in here espouse too which is ridiculous and all will be good as us being a perennial playoff team and Cup contender down the line begins next year....

Okay so a lot of arguing regarding our team needing 1 more star player. Mika- carries line 1, u just need complements, not stars for the other two spots i.e an elias lindholm or nino from carolina (not saying we shld trade for them by any means). Panarin carries line 2, man is a 5 v5 beast and his line is consistent, otherwise he would not be +28(after +20, you can spot a trend). Chytil- developing, and hes gonna be good next year, maybe good enough for that next step. I would guess if he gets 2nd line center position, he could easily crack 60 points. Kakko- 19(happy bday), and he is going through a really difficult learning curve. Hes gonna learn, he wants to learn, and kids like him dont give up. The talent is there, he knows what he'll need to do in the offseason and the experience from this season will carry over. Expect a svechnikov type performance, bc the reason he popped off in the 2nd half last year was bc hurricanes are a playoff team if the goalie can stop a puck. We prob need wing depth and tony's season prices him out(not really), but i see gorton tradinghim eventually, yes hes a stud but between him and fox id take the latter only bc fox can be a #1, wheres deangelo can be counted on to score, just not defend as well. That brings me to the point that tony will net a huge return. The 1st from the eventual kreider trade can be repackagrd with one of the plethora of prospects that we have accumulated. Kandre miller will be ready soon, nils lundkvist will break the shl record, kravstov will be better, we dont know his ceiling either. I left trouba talk last bc people need to understand two things: 1. Different d-schemes are tough to get used to, especially with ruffs 2. Skjei is not a number 1 defenseman. If you want a good d man to pair with troubs, you go for the upside trade and im sure there is one to be found. Igor can steal games, georgie is good, hank i love you buddy, please retire or get traded so you dont drive yourself crazy with not playing. FINALLY, we have a lot of pieces developing and it takes time. The draft is just based off the skill of evaluating talent. If this draft is so deep, i really doubt the rangers cant make a good pick.

Zuccarello..who??

A friend was at the game, he didn't see ANYONE in the crowd with Minnesota Wild jerseys with his name and number on it...Plenty of Blue # 36 though...

Just watched the 3rd period on PVR
This team is so determined!! What a comeback
1) Panarin
2) Zibanejad
3) DeAngelo

HM: Buchnevich & Trouba

I loved how feisty Trouba was tonight, DeAngelo looked pretty fired up going after that guy too  DeAngelo made some really good plays defensively tonight, closed the gap on a lot of players

I liked Buch before this year and his play so far has only won me over more.

He has taken a ton of heat so far this year, but like, all his “faults” are 1:1 growth potential. And he is still doing perfectly perfectly OK, and should only improve.

Another thing is I feel he gets wrongfully criticized about character, he just has resting Buch face but if you watch him interacting with teammates, in the room, those promo videos, etc he has a ton of personality and is a total goofball. He forechecks as hard as anyone on our team but people rarely talk about it, and I could've sworn he cleared the puck like 3 times in the final minute tonight

I have been sympathetic toward Buchnevich but I agree. He’s showing a lot more ‘life’ lately.
The thing with Buch is, I don't want him to be the guy in the PG-13 movie everyone's *really* hoping makes it happen. I want him to be the guy in the rated R movie you're not sure whether or not you like yet. You're not sure where he's coming from.
I want Buch to be the bad man.

Minnesota is such a lightweight team. To lose to them...almost unfathomable. I love that the boys spanked those clowns.
Btw, ever seen a goalie with less lateral movement than their guy? Yeesh. Looked like....me, trying to get across that crease. Bananas!

L
Fox played 22:01 EV, and was on the ice for 25 shot attempts for (1st) and 14 against.

Panarin-Strome-Fast 12-3 5v5 shot attempt differential and on the ice for 0 shots on goal against.

He needs a partner that fits. Skjei hasn't worked out in that regard, and in general it is slim pickings on our LD side. They should flip Skjei for a defensive-defenseman, someone like a better version of Freddy Claesson. Or kidnap Josh Morrissey from Winnipeg.
i agree on moving Skokie at some point but we do have some LD on the way with upside. I think any trades we make should be for forwards

He plays the puck way too much and is horrible at it, and is so aggressive and moves way too far when he’s sliding across. Reminds me of the very overrated Jacob Markstrom!
