Whether they win or lose, the Rangers can never do anything the easy way.
I'm not going to lie, tonight would've really pissed me off. If for no other reason than guys like Smith and Shattenkirk really aren't part of anything productive this organization might do in the coming decade, but would still somehow find a way to turn something seemingly inconsequential into an action that the Rangers feel several months, and several years down the line.
One of the things I hoped wouldn't happen is that this team would somehow be buoyed by under-performing veterans who end up scoring. Not that you can make the kids be the ones who score in defeat, but you'd at least hope they have something to build on. The flip side is that I really couldn't give two craps about Shattenkirk and Smith having something to build on.
