This is a pet peeve of mine other than maybe a player missing an empty net, nothing pisses me more than these free f***ing goals given up. Should be 3-0 going into the 3rd, instead we'll probably blow it.

Every goalie in the entire league gives them up. Brodeur and Hasek gave them up. It happens. When a player fans on a shot or mishandles a pass, no one has a melt down. It’s essentially the same thing. Ovechkin will be the greatest goal scorer of all time. He’s fanned on 100s of shots. Panarin IS our offense. He mishandles passes, fans on shots. It happens. No player can be perfect for 60 minutes. Shesterkin stops 92.6% of shots faced so far in his career. That’s right up there with the very best. Vasilevsky allows soft goals. Price allows soft goals. Rask allows soft goals. It’s just the way it goes.

Richter was the Eli Manning of the Rangers.

Infer from that what you will
Richter was great at stopping the puck; not good at everything else a goalie is asked to do. Poor rebound control, terrible with the puck on his stick. Kinda like Hank but worse at everything. He had a better glove than Hank but was out of position alot hence made a good number of acrobatic saves and couldn't play as deep as Hank because he didn't track the puck as well.

The legend of Mike Richter continues to grow. Take a look at Lundqvist‘s elimination game stats.

And all of that is fine.

Richter got me a Cup.

It's why old school Jets fans will take Namath over any QB ever lol

What the heck are these Carolina jerseys? Gray? Looks like a dirty away sweater. And with green to boot? Now I feel like I’m looking at the packaging of an organic detergent.

instead of just doing real throwbacks, they make a shittier version of everyones old jersey.

thats what happens when you win A championship. No one ever doubts you again.

For those that watched richters career when he went white hot in big spots no one was better. I’d take him in a game 7 all day long.

Igor has been very good today but that was a soft goal. He has to stop that given who the shooter was and where it was taken.

So, the guy has been great all game and lets in a shot that should have never even been taken. Maybe he should have had it, but the goal was 99% on Zibanejad.

I'm not going that far.

He would make the most athletic, improbable save that left your jaw on the floor. Then with 2:50 to go in the 3rd he would let one go through his body to ruin a shut out. Maybe it was more prominent to my teenage self that was hung up on stats more. But it's imprinted in my DNA now.

Doesnt hank have some of the greatest game 7 stats for a goalie ever?
Yeah, but he never won a Cup, and for some that will define his legacy. I think it's horseshit, personally. Richter was my favorite player growing up and Lundqvist my favorite for his career. Richter was at times s really great goalie and the Cup run was unforgettable, but I think Lundqvist was clearly the superior player.

Excellent motivator. Reminds me of Torts in that sense. Except once the latter decides on a system (he does adapt strategy to his roster) he sticks to it during each game. Sort of shoving a block through a square peg — regardless of the block’s shape and size. Peter seems to appreciate the importance of flexibility somewhat more — but he does tend to stick to a certain strategy across teams.

I think he has one of the most effective, if not the best neutral zone transition systems in the league.
Very smart coach that has taken 3 different teams to the finals.
Too bad JG couldn't get his head out of his ass and hired him when he was there for the taking..

Haha, I really like them. Green is a O.G. hockey uniform color.
Green works. The Wild and Stars use it well (though I prefer the darker green the Stars had many years ago). The gray with green, though, just doesn’t do it for me.

But life would be so boring if we all shared the same tastes. :thumbu:

I'm not expecting him to never allow soft goals but sometimes not allowing soft goals would be nice.

Stop please. You make me question your mental strength.
I don’t get why Igor needs to shutout anyone, it’s essentially 5 on 1, you can’t be perfect every game nor can you win every game, same goes for the NFL, NBA, & MLB.
