So the stars would be spending how much on goaltending if the made a trade for the King? haha.

He is worth way more than that. Would have to think 2 of Nuke,Johns, Honka would also be coming back to the Rangers

Not enough. Also as a stars fan I would have no interest in trading what it would take to land him

Ahahahahahahahaha.
Thats the kind if assets the Rangers pay for things, not get for things.

Well good luck trying to get to the finals nevertheless winning a cup with that goaltending
You put lundqvist on the stars and they immediately become a top 3 fav for cup easy maybe even THE favorite to win it all.

Dallas will be nUmber 1 favorite with Bishop from UFA in 2017, its better then nUmber 3 with "grandfather Lundqvist" right now for this price.

Thanks but while you're willing to waste another year on mediocre goal tending waiting for Bishop to be a UFA, I'll take Grandpappy over a shoddy goalie tandem, who at a whole two years younger than Gramps, make more combined than any other duo in the league.

Besides a goaltending upgrade what are the Stars needs?

Are they looking to contend for the cup this season?

The Stars are definitely in their window period. They are very close to competing for a cup, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Stanley Cup finals this season.

Any possibility of something around:

Zuccarello 3 yrs 4.5 AAV
Klein 2 yrs 2.9 AAV

Nichushkin
Honka
Hemsky 1 yr 4 AAV (cap dump)

Does the need fit for Dallas fans?

I doubt very much that Honka is moveable asset.

You're forgetting the part where we give up valuable picks and prospects.

Nill isn't building a flash in the pan, he wants a team that will be competitive for the next decade.

Blueliners.....and as much as I knocked their goalies earlier, I think Lehtonen is actually a pretty solid goalie when he's healthy. Niemi has a SC with Chicago. Both with the right blueline in front of them could go deep.

IMO Rangers can spare Mark Staal with McD and the emergence of Skjei. As much as he's been knocked this offseason on these boards, I'm still sticking with he's a solid top4 blueliner. For a team that added Russel for a hefty price as a rental, I'd be interested to see what they'd move for a guy who IMO is a much better player and capable of handling the big forwards out west.

In a word, no. We did finish first in the tougher west, even though we flubbed our first second round playoff chance in many years (probably to be expected, but disappointed) We aren't going to make trades just to make trades, we are going to fill some limited but very specific needs.

Leading scoring team. Forwards are more than good. We did lose lower six guys like Moen and Fids (too old to keep up, really) Scevior was a useful bottom six forward, but we have the prospects to replace them all.

We know we need a goalie, and Henrik or Bishop would make us pretty darn good. Like that Nill is swinging for the fences with Bishop. Hadn't heard any talk of Lundquvist being sought or available.

We are not sure of our D, as we lost 3 vets from an average squad, and are going much younger to get bigger and faster. Hamuis was a great pickup. Might need one more, but Honka is supposed to be somewhere near Klingberg, and I think Nill wants those two to be our puck movers in the next few years. How many teams can trot out two puck movers like that?

With the chemistry developing, no need to make changes just to make changes, which this seems to do. All we really want as your fans is your goalie, if for some reason we could get him. We know it would take at least one of our young stud prospects, not just fringe players. They were said to be open to trading Nuke. Nuke and a first wouldn't be a bad starting point. You might need to take back Anti or Kari, but that would be a dream.

I'd love to see something around Nuke and Staal and think it could work for both teams. IMO this is similar to the Zherdev for Tyutin deal the Rangers made years ago.

And I'd love to see something around Eaves and McDonagh, I think it works just as well for both teams as Staal for Nichushkin.

I'm not on the Staal is garbage and doesn't belong in the NHL bandwagon. The guy's still a legit top4 blueliner. Considering it will cost you two forwards to protect one extra blueliner in the expansion draft, I think it's pretty clear how valuable blueliners are.
