If he gets the chance. Hopefully he doesn't bail right away if he doesn't make the team out of camp.
Yeah that's definitely a concern. And then if he leaves I'm afraid he won't come back.

Hopefully this has all been discussed, all scenarios hashed out.

Lavoie is as legit as they come. He's Dreger/McKenzie, just French.

I know he's legit, it's just a random guy to have the news first. Especially for a prospect signing this minor, all things considered. Usually announced by the team account. Not doubting it at all

2 goals in 21 games. Only played in 2 of their playoff games. I kept checking in on the guys we traded and I was legit shocked how awful Grabner was for the Debs. Glorious.

The little island with us between his teams before and after still owns me. I feel like I'm not used to such a thing.

Single digit goals with Toronto

-Tied for 2nd in the entire NHL in even strength goals with us-

Healthy scratch for New Jersey

Random reporter to break something like this tbh

Not really, he is a very active fulltime NHL reporter.
Very well connected.
Very often first to report waiver placements and other NHL transactions.
Follow him on Twitter, unfollow half a dozen bloggers, and you'll know more sooner, and waste less time.
Not giving you a hard time, just saying he is a proven great resource for NHL player movement news.

Gonna be an interesting competition on the blue line next season. Rykov versus Hajek on the left, Fox versus Pionk and ADA on the right, plus assorted vets

Depending on possible trades

Not surprised it took a bit longer for Rykov. As I said last month, Rykov's season ended a lot later than Kravtsov's and Shestyorkin's. He played for the Russia B team until late April and therefore was unable to negotiate an NHL deal

Why is he not verified? How bizarre. Anyhow I hope this is true because I've been skeptical of Rykov. Would be great to get to see what the rangers really have here. Also smart of Rykov to get in amongst it sooner rather than later. Lots of prospects. It's like a steel cage match.

Well this is great . Can get a good look at him now. Does the entry’s entry level slide if he goes back to the khl to start the year ?

Who knows he may kill it in camp

I think Rykov looks at the left side of the Rangers and thinks--'wow, there are vets who could block me'. But anyway I think he needed to get into the mix as soon as possible because K'Andre and Tarmo might be coming next year and I think he risked getting moved along again because of too many numbers.

Left D is stacked as it is--Skjei, Staal, Smith, maybe Claesson (if we sign him again), Hajek, Rykov, Lindgren, Bigras could all legitimately play next year. To me I'd guess it points to Smith getting bought out (because we won't find a trade partner) and Claesson not being signed.

I'd expect Skjei and Staal both to be regulars again. Skjei is at least for the moment our best all situation defenseman. If Smith and Claesson are out of the picture Rykov and Hajek would be the most likely candidates to fight it out for the bottom pairing LD spot and the 7D--perhaps displacing Staal as the season moves along.

Good chance but can’t they sign Claesson then waive him for AHL depth ? I think he clears and if not oh well

Smith for a F w the same type of contract maybe ? Rather not do a buyout

Claesson I think would be much happier playing in the NHL though. If that's where you think he'll end up you might as well let him go to a team where that's more likely to happen. With the Rangers he's 7D a t best.

As for Smith a 4+ mil per year 4th line forward? who couldn't hold onto a bottom pairing D spot? My guess is that he won't be one of our top 12 forwards either and even if we move Kreider. I expect Kakko and Kravtsov both to make the Rangers team by the way.

The buyout for Smith for four years would be a bit over a $1 mil a year. That's not really that much and with a team that's going to have a lot of ELC's it's very unlikely to negatively effect our cap at all. The other option is to bury him like Beleskey. Smith would probably prefer going somewhere else and a buyout might be the only option.

I wouldn't get rid of Smith just yet. He showed he was a good team guy, did whatever they asked of him. He has snarl and that's one thing Quinn values. He's also decent, but not great insurance should some of these guys need more time. We aren't cap bound so there's no rush. If he's fine wkth flipping from D to W and being sat occasionally, I don't see why we would buy him out right now.
