Drury is the one that needs to move. With the exception of Trouba and Goodrow, it's the same team that won a president's trophy last season. 5 on 5 was not so good, special teams were, but the NYR won a lot of games last season that they probably should not have. They had that winning character and some swagger. Drury ruined it. Can't trade your roster away when their value is so low. Jettison Drury, bring a culture change into the front office.

More than a few guys who should have packed an extra bag for this game against Nashville. I feel like this is one if those where a guy finds out he's been traded to the other team right before the game and has to go over to the other locker room.

I don't get this spoiled athlete routine. The team won the Presidents trophy last season. You don't forget how to play. If you're mad at the GM, you go speak to the owner. But you don't stop trying out on the ice. You don't get your coach fired because you're mad at the GM. You don't throw a season away by failing to try. That's what's happened here. Complete breakdown in leadership and a failure by so called professionals to be professionals.

Which team is packing the extra bag...

Throw in they are not getting the saves from their #1 goalie, and you have trouble, so....................
Quick has a better Sv % and GA Igor has to get it going or the Rangers are in trouble.

The team's leaders seem to have quit on their GM? Why?

I hear ya, but NMCs are currency. Goodrow and Trouba were supposed to be compensated with those NMCs and they feel they were ripped off. Fair enough. They can feel that way. I would. The other guys? I agree, the athletes are privileged today. But Drury went dirty on Goodrow and Trouba. THAT is why the team is losing its mojo. A lot of those players signed deals with NMCs as currency. If the team feels like they are getting screwed, and that management has become an enemy and a threat in that regard, I can not say that I blame them. Drury is at fault here. He is the villain. It should be noted that Trouba, Goodrow, Reaves and even Rempe are the 'jam' that this group has always lacked. Drury dispatched them. That alter ego is gone. Exposing the Achilles heel of these extremely talentd, but flawed players. Drury castrated this team.

I'm sorry, but when you are a 4th line player making almost 4M and you score 4 goals, or you are Defenseman making 8M who's game has regressed so badly that you can't take a top 4 spot without hurting the team, you are no longer a leader. You might be a great guy, but you are a sponge soaking up cap space and ice time that younger players need to develop, and quite frankly, deserve. Blind loyalty to players who have failed this organization is no mor acceptable than what is going on here.

For all the anger pointed Drury's way, I don't see player's waiving their NTC's and NMC's when they demand a trade. They usually dictate a lot of the action in general, so imo this is just the shoe on the other foot wrt Goodrow and Trouba.

Kakko isn't wrong that he shouldn't have been the guy scratched, but he isn't playing nearly well enough to make comments like that. What he should have said would be something like "I don't think I should have been scratched, but it's my job to play well enough that it's impossible to scratch me".

If he thinks his current play is good enough, isn't that part of the Rangers' problems right now? Isn't he just foisting blame onto his teammates instead of reflecting and finding ways that he himself can improve? That locker room seems incredibly toxic from all angles, not just the players that HF Rangers fans love to hate.

It's pretty obvious that Kakko knows he's on the block (maybe even wants out), and doesn't give AF anymore about how he's perceived in the locker room.

Sure, but if I'm another team's GM thinking about acquiring him, the quotes he's given today give me pause.

I doubt that. Kakko would've been warranted to give those comments on his two previous scratches as well, but he kept his mouth shut. I don't blame him for finally speaking up, and he probably speaks for a number of the younger players on that roster.

Remember when he was scratched in the playoffs despite playing so well?

They've treated him like shit. They're lucky he didn't forced his way out at last contract renewal.

Drury was the culture change. Nearly the entire roster was constructed by Gorton. He has fidgeted very little except giving away a few good players for nothing and signing Trochek.

If they're moving Kakko it's more than likely as part of a deal to land a better player or for a struggling prospect of a similar pedigree. Doesn't really make sense to deal him for parts at this point.
How about something around Mittlestadt?
