I'm inclined to agree, but there's a lot of Sharks fans who seem to want Trouba. Personally, I'd say f*** no.
Well, there's a lot of Sharks fans would take him if we were compensated to, me included. He'd be our second best RHD and fills an obvious need for size and physicality while being a passable skater. But obviously no one is paying for him.

Yea, we’re a contender who wants to trade one of our players who has a habit of putting the team on his shoulders during stretches every season. Who’s not overpaid or over-termed.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense. They’ll only have to replace those minutes and production with other moves.

Problem is getting rid of Trouba is all but impossible. Even if the Rangers wanted to pay the hefty price to off load him to rebuilding teams, he has a 15 team NTC. That's just a contract New York is eating until it runs out.

Kreider is a playoff beast and and almost beat the Devils in the playoffs singlehandedly with his deflections and net front presence.

Every team in the league would want to pick him up.

That record is almost entirely goaltending. We have the best goaltending in the league. The rest of the team is very average and has had some very alarming performances lately.

And the Devils are a reigning not playoff team. I’d rather qualify for the playoffs by winning the regular season than not being a top 16 team in the league.
At the end of the day neither team won a cup last year. The Rangers consolation prize was the President’s trophy and the Devils was Anton Silayev. Sucks not making the playoffs but adding someone like Silayev potentially helps the Devils going forward way more than a President’s trophy helps the Rangers going forward.

Crazy how much the Trouba hype train came to a screeching halt the moment he got that contract. Overall, given how much people pumped his tires, he's been fairly disappointing especially since he forced his way to NY, and now he's on the wrong side of 30 while his game continues to regress.

You realize the Rangers also had a first round draft pick? You are acting like your team added Celebrini. And even if you do add the 1OA or a top 2 pick, unfortunately not all of them pan out as expected. Something the Rangers know. It wouldn’t be some huge surprise if Emery turns out better than Silayev.

So if all you have to show for it is your lottery ticket has a slightly better chance to be an impactful NHL’er than ours, I’ll take being close and showing that we have a competitive team that is close to winning the Stanley Cup over putting forth a completely uncompetitive season that raises real questions about the viability of a team to eventually win the Cup.

Something based around Jack Quinn for Krieder and trouba?

Feel like that is something close but could be way out to lunch on both teams interest

Yeah no - he’ll be gone this offseason at the latest. There were teams not on his NTC list that were willing to trade for him last summer.

Gallagher
Struble
3rd round pick - for extra year of Gallagher

For

Trouba
Lindgren

No salary retention. Saves the Rangers around 4.2mill in cap space this year. Next year would be 1.5 in savings still on the cap.

Struble and Lindgren close production wise and what they bring. Just the Habs could use a primarily stay at home dman in Lindgren with size. Then also Trouba brings physicality to the backend for the Habs which they are looking for.

Gallagher has found his top gear again this year and back to his old ways not playing a finesse game but in the crease, tipping, and scoring garbage greasy goals again. Nice to see him back and back to producing at a good clip again. Just the Habs have a lot of forwards coming back in with RHP and potentially Laine. So the Habs would like to move a forward out.

If i was them, I'd be really conflicted about keeping Shesterkin... he is keeping them a contender, but alloting that much cap to a goalie is the antithesis of modern roster building.
Modern roster building? So sign bums like Trouba and Goodrow for the salary he wants? Who needs one of the best players in the league when you can have two bad players with modern roster building!

They've been a shit analytical team that has been bailed out by goaltending for years now. This isn't anything new for them.
Okay, and eventually you try to change that.

Seems like way too much money coming into Buffalo and none going out
Yeah for sure

Feel though krieder and trouba on buffalo are perfect additions for what they are looking for/need to make a playoff push

And jack Quinn could/would be a great young replacement for Krieder

Thread title should probably be edited because it’s causing a lot of people to not understand what the shakeup might entail.

I see people mentioning Fox, Kakko, Schneider. Like nearly 0% chance those players are included.

This is Trouba, Kreider, and maybe Zibanejad or Lindgren (more tenuous for contract reasons).

We aren’t rebuilding. We are potentially trying to shake up the veteran core, and it’d almost certainly be player for player, not player for futures, so offering futures or picks does nothing for us.

Nah

Quinn is 11 years younger than Kreider and was very good the last two years.

We might be more willing to deal a prospect and a 2nd but Krieder's contract is a tad rough too
