The Rangers are 12-6-1, I do not understand the panic around them.

Sure they got blown out by the Oilers, that happens, Mcdavid is incredible.

That doesn't seem like a reason to panic.

This was published on Thursday - since then, the Rangers also lost 3-2 to Calgary and 6-2 to Edmonton.

Against teams with a > .500 points % they are 2-5-0 with a -8 goal differential (including some beatdowns that Shesterkin made a lot closer than they should've)

I think they're clearly still a playoff team in the east but also a clear 4th in the division right now. Not what you want from a team that won the President's trophy last year

They should probably being trying to move on from one of their top 6 centers, specifically the one that sucks 5 on 5 and has 14 points yet is paid like he is a number one center when he never has been and has been a PP merchant the last few years in Zibanejad

Habs might be interested in Trouba? If things can be worked out with him. Montreal needs right shot D. Doubt Pitt is moving Letang.
Trouba is not going to Montreal. I wouldn't even say he's the problem per se, even though he's a scapegoat. There are a lot of passengers on the Rangers with low compete levels.

Chris Krieder for Alex Tuch?

Allows Laffy to get on top pp and play in his natural position.

You want Buffalo to get five years older, two million dollars more expensive, and far less productive….by trading away one of the few top six players in the league they know wants to be a Sabre?

Can they add anything to make sure this happens? First rounders? Pints of their blood?

Uh they're 12-6-1 on the year and 6-4 in their last 10.

Really weird timing for this.
That record is almost entirely goaltending. We have the best goaltending in the league. The rest of the team is very average and has had some very alarming performances lately.

These are the reigning regular season champs we’re talking about though. Those are the highest standards that team has.
And the Devils are a reigning not playoff team. I’d rather qualify for the playoffs by winning the regular season than not being a top 16 team in the league.

as i said on the Ranger board, the center ice position is killing the team.

Zibanejad and Trocheck have turned into pumpkins.

Trocheck is a 4th line center without being carried by his two wings, PAnarin and Laf. He has a mere 10 points and is invisible-bad most nights.

I just don't know if anything else is worth doing for this team if theyre 1st and 2nd line centers are flat out this bad.

good centermen drive the play, they take heat off your Defense by coming back and skating the puck out, and by keeping possession in the zone. they are not doing any of that.

their best center is the injured and inconsistent filip chytil who is one hit away from being retired.

I wonder if Skjei + Marchessault for Kreider + Trouba makes any sense. Or maybe just a one for one with Skjei for Trouba or Kreider for Marchessault.

The forward swap seems more likely and closer in value. The defender swap is a huge win for the Rangers although they end up with a much longer contract that could backfire down the line.

Red wings will do 1 for 1 Copp for Trocheck lol. Copp was good in NY

Kreider having ZERO assists on the season is honestly hilarious. How do you not have a puck bounce of you to somebody else to score at some point. It’s almost incomprehensible.
Because Mika has been under performing and whiffing on all of this opportunities. Mika is a turnover machine and a black hole of possession/production this year. Mika is who we needs to traded and is also the player who would benefit the most from a change of scenery but he has a NMC so that's why you are hearing Kreider. He's the one big contract we have that doesn't have a NMC (15 team NTC). Drury has limited options for who can be moved to shake things up.

No one is surprised by Trouba. He's not bad. Or rather he's not terrible. He has good nights and bad nights like a normal defender. His issue is and always has been the $8M AAV. If we are taking trades here and the Rangers are retaining 50%, I think he is a valuable asset to a playoff team. If he refuses to report to a team at TDL (his wife's residency ends in June or July so he's pissing off for like 4 months away from his wife by not reporting) that just seems childish. Dude values his family. I get that. You're on the road half the time. She'll manage the last four months just fine.

They are calling it "shaking it up" but really they are getting ahead of the shestyorkin and Lafreniere contracts so that they don't need to give players away in the summer for being over cap.

If kreider moves Lafreneiere will finally get pp1 ice time. We will see his stats boom. Altho who knows maybe they see cuylie as kreiders pp1 replacement.

Tried to trade Trouba all offseason.
Well… technically. Trouba took his time with his NTC list, which meant that the Rangers were hamstrung until July 1, when teams would start to sign players and fill their rosters (and lose cap space). That made it difficult for the Rangers to get anything done and I suspect Trouba might have also manipulated his trade list a bit to focus on teams that wouldn’t be able to trade for him or wouldn’t be interested. All the talk was him to Detroit but what if Trouba put them on his no trade list to block a move? Who else could trade for him that would want to? He's not going to a rebuilding team with a lot of cap space and the contenders didn't have any enthusiasm about helping the Rangers with their 8 mil per year problem.
