they've been classifying some fans as brokers because they've sold a lot of their games on the secondary market this and last year.

they'll be taking their seats away or something along those lines.

This is true. A friend of mine who is a broker had his taken away by the Devils. He told me there were about 300 accounts that had their tickets taken away because they are brokers.
They should be glad they have a steady renewal of those 300 accounts every year.

Hey, everyone. Please limit the discussion in this thread to issues pertaining to Rangers season tickets only. Thanks!

For everyone who is buying a second house with their ticket sales, here's my actual sales. My tickets are face $76.

Just curious what program you use to keep track of your sales?

I guess you have season tickets just for the playoffs because it seams that you sold almost 70% of the games played so far.

I have made $981.87 selling 22 games in lower 209, $76 face. I lost money on 7 pairs, and haven't lost money on a game since Jan 6. I don't go to a lot of the big money games, opener, Vancouver, Bruins, etc. Most of these were sold on Stubhub.
I drive 1.5-2 hrs from CT and I did buy another house, but not with this money, so its been hard to get to as many games as I would have liked this year. If you have the tickets just so you can go to the big games, youre probably going to lose some money selling only the lower demand games.

haha i love it, i have a sheet just like yours and tabs to keep track of my different seats. $76 tickets just like you, section 217 row 4. I went to 3 games and the person i went with gave me face for each game, wound up finishing the season +$397.30 and went to 3 games for free.

Also my first year with a single seat $56 FV in the upper center 200's and netted +$147 on the year. Not so bad, there's room to make money but I agree with you for sure that if you want to go to all the big games you will lose money.

Does anyone remember from years past what the available seats in the garden look like during the re-location phase? I was told that we are given access to a seating chart similar to picking out single games that show what seats are available and was curious if anyone remembers a rough idea of what is available and where

i have seats in 213 row 16 the $53 face, out of the 82 tickets on the plan (41 games*2seats) i used 20 for myself. (went to 14 games + used my second seat for 2 games+ gave away pair for 2 games)

sold a bunch of singles to friends for $55, and a few pairs to a family friend for $55 each also. sold the rest on stubhub and for the total plan costing $4371, i recouped $4364.70.

not too bad this year.

Just Excel. I went to 14 games so far this year, going to 2 more in the regular season. I will go to one playoff game in each round.

I dont care which teams I see, so big games isn't the issue, its the day thats more important. I wont go to Sunday night or Monday games.

I dont know if row 10 hurts me. Certainly the row 4 tickets are far better value (same face as mine). And for the frugal buyers, move 5 rows behind me and save $24 per ticket. A few of the sales I made were last minute because of work.

Ive done a lot better in previous years selling tickets. Just a few years ago last minute sales would be a profit. I had some big wins along the way; whatever season it was that the rangers played the islanders on 12/26 (it snowed) I got $180 ea for those tickets. Maybe 313F was more appealing than 212/10.

The secondary ticket market is not what it was. I just dug up an old spreadsheet from 11/12 and the first 6 sales (oct-nov) profited $300. BTW those tickets were $59 face, next year they will be $78.

Yea i do the same thing keeping track of my sales. Because I have blue seats row 2, I never have to sell for less than face which is a plus. The big games that I dont make I wil sell for above face such as tonight. I dont need to see the flyers everytime they come to msg, once a year is fine, same goes for any other rivalry game. Il never go to sunday night games, especially during fb season. Even if I sell half or most of my tix, the bottom line is I could go whenever I want not paying inflated values, and the biggest sticking point to me is the playoffs. After the 10% rebate im paying 70 a seat for 1st round of playoffs, any NON STH wont be able to get into MSG for LESS than $125 a seat....you really cant beat that. Im a 23 year old on an entry level salary, I cant afford to go to 41 games a year for $4500. Plus ive gotten like 4 games for free thru work this year so ill sell mine and take the expensive lower bowl seats on the cuff....thanks corporate america. I changed in an MSG bathroom because I refused to be a suit.

Very similar to my experience this year. Only thing that keeps me close to whole are the 3 people I spilt tickets with each year.

Having real thoughts about giving up my tickets after 21 years.

Things like being excluded from the Jersey giveaway promotion also piss me off. I've never lived in Tri-state Area. When I was still back east, I lived in Bucks Co. PA. Reps have been no help here.

Have you tried selling on here? The fees through StubHub absolutely kill you.

The key to being a STH and selling multiple games is to have a list of fans that have purchased tickets from you in the past and just deal with them. I only use Stubhub as a last resort and have always been happy with my return on my tickets. It is a lot more work selling them yourself but that is why you are buying Stubhub 15% to do the work for you.

What's going on with the demand for this Wednesday night game tonight vs the Flyers. Holy Cow probably the biggest avg selling ticket price of the season.

More than Vancouver, Isles or NJ.

geezus - I just took a look. Now wishing I didn't unload my seats months earlier. Works both ways, sometimes you save a lot of money - sometimes you leave a lot of money on the table. Next year with a more balanced schedule (no 1st month on the road, no olympic break) we should see some good supply/demand through the whole season, especially if they don't tank to start the season

The games next week are back to normal though. Just crazy. The fact that people are paying this much for a weekday game blows my mind.

Maybe it's banner night at the Garden or something?! hahaha :yo:

tonight's tickets are crazytown. Not even reasonable crazy, just crazy, $400 for a pair in 200s?!

As I said in the for sale post I think the Rangers/Flyers first round matchup will have very high prices. But with our luck we will get the Capitals again!

Kudos for STH if they can rack in double/triple.
Most, if not all STH I've dealt with secondhand are good guys just trying to break even/make a few bucks.

There hasn't been one ticket left through the box office for a couple of days now. Add that in with the fact that the supply is the lowest I've seen it all season for a game and this is what we get. Easily the biggest home game of the season. You'd think the 8 PM weeknight start time would turn some people off but I guess not.

That Phoenix game was amazing, people got (Mod: a taste) and now they want another

I can only relate my experience.

I've listed tix on the boards for 10-15 games over the past two seasons.

I've left them on the board for a day or so with very few takers.

I then move the offerings to Stubhub, raise the prices, and the seats are usually taken within a day.

Thus, I have fewer hassles and receive the same net so Stubhub is less costly than many understand.

I've had a similar experience. It just much easier to deal with Stubhub as they have a very large customer base and do not require the hassle to track down and perform the transaction with a private buyer. Not to say that I haven't done so, I've sold on the board a few times, but as far as ease of use and convenience, Stubhub is king. I haven't used Ticketexchange since their moved to Ticketsnow as it is a very clumsy website and a PITA to use in my opinion. I also have 200s row 4 seats, and it has been a very up and down season. I couldn't give away tickets in the first half of the season, but since the Olympics the prices have skyrocketed. If I keep my seats, I'm hoping that the more normal schedule next season will help keep demand more regular. I miss paying $56 for each seat. Much easier to sell back then.

This is exactly what I was saying before the season. All-in pricing forces sellers to lower fees so buyers see the prices they expect on the listing and it ends up killing your net take home...

StubHub Sings the Blues After Shifting Fees
Attempt at Price Transparency Backfires, Hurting Sales

Honesty may be the best policy, but it is taking a toll on sales for the nation's largest ticket reseller, StubHub. Three months after StubHub, a division of eBay eliminated what it said had been the single biggest annoyance to most of its customers—hidden fees—its sales have taken a hit.

The decision to move to an "all-in" pricing scheme in January followed years of consumer research showing that fans hate nothing more than to see their final ticket price jacked up with additional fees and service charges when they reach checkout. But now that StubHub's listed prices include the fees, they appear more expensive, and sales have fallen as fans gravitate to sites that list lower base prices and hide fees, the company said.
