They really should offer a standardized way of soliciting feedback & suggestions from their STHs. Instead, they blast out surveys with preconceived topics and focus on which sauce you prefer on which foods at the concessions stands. Those surveys aren't cheap either, they pay firms good money to conduct them and basically learn nothing new

They do, the reps. Whether they actually pass the info along or not is a different story. If it is passed along, whether any of the hierarchy takes it seriously is another issue. But, I get what you are saying. I am on a few lists for surveys from different groups. Most of the stuff I get is about advertising.

called 2 seasons ago to get info and this year im finally financially stable enough to get me some sort of package. I want a full season, is it pretty much expected that i will end up in the 100's right away and need to wait for a spot in the 200's to open up?

The deal is that the Rangers price all their STH seats at market or above except the 200 level rows 2/3 and higher. They do not max out those seats as full season because they can make a lot more by selling them individually. So the supply is fixed and in heavy demand. There is a lot of turnover in the lower bowl and you can easily get full season there and officially it is not possible to have a priority downgrade. In practice, they will allow you to downgrade at the back of the line for existing subscribers.

The way it works is everyone who renews gets upgrade priority for available seats based on tenure. The longest holding STHs get to pick first from any available seats at the same price or higher and can switch seats. After everyone has switched seats or stayed where they are, they will give people a chance to downgrade into whatever is left, which is most likely nothing or single seats. So you are taking a chance that you'll be able to get cheaper seats but it can happen

The Rangers do not offer season ticket holders many perks compared to other teams... says this piece.

LOL - A poster came to our board to ask about perks, poster's name was SensForLife11. Thought that was weird because why would a Sens fan care about Rangers perks? This article - written by an SB Nation writer whose handle is SensForLife11. I guess journalism is pretty easy now when you've got places like HFBoards to use as your sources

I got my seasons 8 years ago when I could finally afford them and it is one of the best things I ever did. I got stuck with terrible seats in the lower bowl for the first season but since then I was able to move to the upper bowl after one season and have actually moved my seats every season but 1 since I got seasons. For me it is ironic that my seats in the lower bowl were priced at I believe $89 a ticket when I first started and now my seats will still be cheaper next season in the upper bowl and I think my seats are much nicer. I would still jump on the chance to get your foot in the door as long as you plan on going to most of the games. After 1 season you should have no problem moving upstairs.

I wouldn't say no problem, I'd say it'll be tough. 8 years later and the tickets are in much higher demand. One way to go is two get two singles and suck it up for a year, then after that season you can put them together in the upgrade process

The tickets were in high demand back then. I actually waited several years on the waiting list and when they reached me I told the Rangers I wanted the upper bowl and was basically told that if I didn't take what was offered to me(the old 222 section) I would give up my spot on the list.
I know about 15 years ago the process was reversed and lower bowl seats were almost impossible to get and the 400,s were readily available as seasons or mini-plans. The problem with MSG is that the lower bowl pricing is too expensive for most fans to go to 20-30 games a year. I wonder how many STHs go to over half the games anymore.

When I first got my tickets in 1998, I only had a choice of the 400s or 300 endzones. Of course back then, my 400s were 22.50 each, 200s were only about 50 each.

Expected? Yes. However, it is possible to get 200s right away. I was lucky enough to grab a pair of row 2s in my first attempt at season tickets (though I had a 200s mini-plan the year before).

that leads me to my next question if i get a mini plan will that get my foot in the door seniority wise?

You'll automatically jump everyone that is on the waiting list.

You'll get ahead of those with no package. I think the priority is:

Returning STH
1/2 Season
Mini-plans
No plan who put down a deposit
No plan, no deposit

If you're willing to do a mini-plan at least this year, I'd put down a deposit now. Worst case is that the deposit goes towards the mini-plan instead.

Yup that's what I meant. Ih8theislanders who posts here had a mini plan in 11-12 (old 200's), upgraded to a half season plan in 12-13 (lower corner 200's rows 3-14) since there was nothing for full season, and finally got a full season this year in that same pricing point.

It all depends really on who renews/downgrades and how much the rep you talk to is willing to help you.

Instead, they blast out surveys with preconceived topics and focus on which sauce you prefer on which foods at the concessions stands. Those surveys aren't cheap either, they pay firms good money to conduct them and basically learn nothing new

At the end of those surveys there is a blank space to write whatever you want.
I always fill in the blank space at the end with my comments and complaints.
I also have written several times that I'm annoyed that nobody has ever contacted me to discuss any of these complaints. Of course never once got a phone call even though I include my name and phone number. You're right about the multiple choice questions meaning nothing.

The real issues for me are:
Full price exhibition games
Crowded concourses in the 200 level
Tv's mounted too high in 1st row gallery
Large price difference between 1st and 2nd row gallery seats. If there's going to be that much of a price different between the two rows don't call the 2nd seat Gallery Seats.
Exorbitant ticket price increases over the last 5 years.

Knick invoices just hit. Prices for next year are unchanged as promised, but playoff ticket prices keep going up. Looks like roughly 7% increase this year, not that they're going to make the playoffs, but setting that price will allow them to raise them even more next year. But they also have a 10% playoff rebate for renewing

The chase card renewal gift is a framed autograph picture of Bernard King. Interesting thing is that they are trying to push people to give up hard tickets and choose the print at home only option by offering those that do some sort of 35% off offer for an espresso maker (weird). They also have a random drawing for $10K and for a Cruise for people who renew early

Also, they are reducing the fan categories from 3 to 2. Now you have to choose between "Knicks Family Experience" and "Knicks Player Forum". No more Family / Lifer / Entertainment

I know, he should have done the same with Ranger tickets, I'm just breaking even on those not including the games I go to. But I'm not complaining, I netted almost $10K off Knick tickets this year, and they were putrid. Thanks Jimbo! :D

jeez..i really tried to get knicks tix this past year, but no luck. where are your seats?

I was just reading today and didn't realize for the past few years I've been supposed to get 15% off nhl.com. I order off there often and wish I had known this! Is there a code on my account website, or how do I enact this discount?

I know the Rangers and Knicks have been using dynamic pricing this year -- but is this the first year?
I have seats in 105 Row 13 that cost me $175 each. TM lists tickets in 109 (which is the same price category) at $125 ($147 with fees) for tomorrow's Coyote's game.

I asked a rep at one of the games about it and she said, "Oh, but you're paying less than box office for the really popular games."

Well, that's great, but I've lost thousands this year. Nice to know the box office is undercutting me.

I think they started using dynamic pricing last season but it wasn't until this season that some tickets actually went below STH face through Ticketmaster.

As a STH I am not happy to see tickets for sale through Ticketmaster at less than STH face. I understand the rationale behind doing this for certain games but the STH price should not be undercut. My seats next year will cost me $78 each but if bought individually would be $102 each. MSG knows that a game against the Jets in November will sell for $102 thus undercutting the STH.

They didn't undercut you. The lowest tiered price for that seat is $190 and the highest is $215. They have 6 pricing tiers.

I am looking on ticketmaster right now. There is a seat in 109, row 16 which is 147.40 after fees. A seat in row 10 is 188.35 after fees. 109 and 105 are both 2 sections from dead center.

I agree. Even with dynamic pricing, the price should NEVER dip below what a full-STH or plan holder pays.
