In NY, is it still 98.7? If that is occupied with Knicks or anything else, what other stations do people try? Saturday, will likely have to listen to most of the game. Normally would DVR and watch later without hearing score, but wont be able to this week.

I remember listening to Howie and Sal Red Light call the games, sometimes Kenny Albert, on "Rangers Radio Network," which here was 1150 (?) AM and at night you could get clear reception of WJR to listen to Detroit games.

Was on 660 for a while, Kenny, Sal, Splits-Ala-Richter and Member's Only Jackets

"Me here... you... there"

He ran a version of Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" with highlight calls from the season/playoff after we won the cup in 1994... I was driving home (at like 2am) and just sobbing I was so happy. Cheesy song but it got to me lol
I remember that!

I was Somers last call in 1994 the morning after the Rangers won the Cup.

And I was the last call with Somers on the 20th year WFAN reunion call in 2006.

The best part of radio listening is the power plays. The guy will talk fast trying to describe what is happening but still not fast enough-- and you know for sure the whole time that shit not being described is happening. And then, "Karpovtsev clears!"

When Kenny Albert first started on radio, he was always behind the play. I spent a lot of those years listening at work (I was in LA at the time) and I could hear the crowd cheer for a goal and he was a few seconds behind in calling the play. He has improved a lot.

Very much a lost art... if they're doing it right it's like a stream of consciousness. If they're searching for a players name it's over. Not easy at all.

TV at least allows for some error (or delay). Buccigross is not great at it honestly.

I remember the dark ages when I couldn't watch the games I'd listen on radio when I could. I hated that!
