You read comments from badgers fans and granato is doing an awful job. Too much talent to be struggling like this. I think the Rangers get Miller out of there as soon as they can.

get Miller out of Wisconsin b/c online fans can’t figure out that very young roster doesn’t play defense?

IMO, he stays there and learns, like the rest of them, how to defend better. I’d rather not have all his learning in the AHL when he can be in college.

not playing defense is probably something the coaching staff should work on. But it’s definitely not just defense. They play with no structure. Far from just fans complaining

Fair comment. But we could be looking at what he is. A good 4th liner SHLer. Which is what he was as a draftee.

He might be a guy who peaked at 19 and never developed further.

This is way harsh of a call at this point.

Barron had an assist.

Nothing for Kjellberg.

Ciccolini is out again, must be hurt.

Neither Miller nor Nanne has a point through the first in their game.

No points for Skinner.

Nothing for Gross.

No points for Robertson through one period.

have you looked at how young that roster is? Out of their top 11 in points, only two are juniors while the rest are younger. 6 are freshmen including Turcotte who was playing well yet now a -9 and Cole “I shoot from everywhere” Caufield.

Doubt undisciplined kids who have never played defense is reason enough to pull Miller out of college and stick him in Hartford. That’s extreme IMO.

oh stop it’s college hockey he’s got a bunch of nhl draft picks playing against future beer leaguers. Turcotte and caufield have played better teams for years. A bunch of high first round picks. That team should be much better. They play no system at all

Yes and the reality is that team hasn't been good for five or six years. Since they started the Big Ten Conference up. This isn't some new thing.

so pull a kid out of college and send him to Hartford is your solution. I’m opting for keeping him there while Turcotte occasionally back checked and Caufield has never played defense is his life. My gosh, he may forgotten what a pass is he’s so shot happy.

The truth is it's hard to win with a lot of young high draft picks. The only team off the top of my head that was led by a freshman or sophomore like that was BU in 2015 and Eichel has shown that he's a special player. Granato may be a good recruiter but he needs to take a step back from the blue chips and focus on the whole team.

uhh yeah. Hardly unheard of for a kid turning pro after his sophomore season. No reason to go back after this season for him.

Barron had a weird game tonight. Got the assist on a nice cross ice pass during a delayed penalty. He had what I thought was a solid game but he seemed stuck in the mud and didn't seem to be skating that well. The game was pretty stop and start with a lot of penalties and a lot of whistles. Barron is typically at his best playing North/South and going at guys and with all the PPs it felt like he got out of that a bit. Felt like they barely played 5v5 especially him(There was only one 5v5 goal the whole game).

His PP performance was dreadful, but so was whole team's honestly. Lots of passing but not a lot of puck movement, just cycling at the blue line looking for who knows, because they had plenty of good opportunities to shoot.

no reason to kill Granato either. Not to mention, rushing Miller who isn’t ready.

for the AHL? Next year? Sure he is

I dunno. He certainly never looked AHL ready at the WJCs.

I think he still has a lot of work to do on his play in the defensive zone and his decision-making everwhere on the ice. Bring him to the AHL next year and people will turn on him very quickly. I can already envision a mass of terrible Sean Day comparisons.

His draft year he was getting 2nd line minutes during the playoffs.

The thing that concerned me (and never got a good answer) was whatever was happening with his feet to where he had to wear sandals even in Sweden.

“I think the Rangers get Miller out of there as soon as they can.”, so you meant next year rather than immediate?

Agree, and he made a real bone headed play too. Hoping he stays in College. We’ve already read all the hype surrounding these prospects while JD mentioned “they may not be ready to win” and spoke about being patient.

Headlines keep praising these kids who may think they’re ready for Broadway after a great rookie camp yet maybe these kids have to develop more than they realize. Kraskov leaving Hartford wasn’t the answer. Lias leaving Hartford wasn’t the answer and I don’t think Miller rushing out of Wisconsin is the answer. These kids have to learn to play solid hockey and earn the right to play on Broadway. Being drafted was special yet not a free ticket to MSG.

yes not right this second I mean for next season.

Since getting pulled for 3 goals on 16 shots, Mora has stapled Lindbom to the bench in favor of Wallin(.875 sv% in the 2 starts.)

So what you’re saying is he coaches like Quinn

Miller will feel right at home here
