I think after we've finished the regular polls and the supplementary ones (which will incude Kakko et. al), I will do a set to vote where we should place our separation of tiers on the list.

Went with Gettinger based on his potential as a fourth line player.

It's not the sexiest upside in the world, but it's definitely a "path" to the NHL for him.

went with Skinner. add Lindbom. I think Rueschhoff and Ragnarsson round out the next adds for me. After that, it's very 'eh for me. Aaltonen I guess.

I had Garand as the guy a few picks ago.

Between 2000 and 2015, the Rangers drafted 9 goalies after the 1st round and 11 goalies total. 2 of those turned into Lundqvist and Shesterkin.

Garand is right in Allaire's wheelhouse as a small, athletic, technically sound goalie and he's been really good so far, playing on Canada's national team and finishing 3rd in the WHL is save % as a late birthday in his pre-draft season.

It seems to me like there's some kind of a decent chance that he turns into a Lundkvist / Shesterkin type and that, in my opinion, is worth more than someone who is a guaranteed 4th liner.

Add Lindbom.

I wouldn't add him yet, but I think Rempe's a guy who deserves to be on the list, probably reasonably soon. He's got NHL hands and plus-plus NHL size. His scoring output as a late birthday WHL rookie on a weak team was actually pretty good. The rest of his game needs a lot of work and improvement, but the good news is he reportedly has great work ethic and was the most improved player on his team last year. He's a project, but it seems to me like a lot of the raw material is there for him to turn into a valuable player down the road.

One of the things I've heard about Garand is he's listed at 6'0 (elite prospects has him at 6'1) but is more like 5'10 or 5'11--there aren't many goalies these days who are under 6'0. So that is a question I have about him. Personally it's between him and Rykov for my next pick and I'm kind of leaning towards Yegor. Also though I have to say I think we still have 6 or 7 pretty good prospects on board.

voted Gettinger

personally he should be in top 17 in my opinion. i think he makes the team this year or plays some of the year with the Rangers. might have to go through waivers next year so I think this is his last year of nonwaivers. he had his cup of coffee with the Rangers and should be considered to get a spot, especially if Lemieux decides to hold out which he would be stupid enough to do. .

add Rempe. he seems intriguing maybe a future Brian Boyle type in 4 years.

I would go Rykov here, with Huska on deck. I have a good feeling on Aaltonen, don't sleep on him (or Pajuniemi).

Gettinger isn't really an option to me because he's likely already played his NHL games. Not much ceiling here.

As for 'patterns' which i alluded to in another thread (Swedes drafted off the board, sons of journeymen players)...another pattern with the size projects, which I suppose Gettinger falls into as well: Rempe, Ruschhoff, Kjellberg (first pattern), Ollas, Ciccolini?, certainly Edstrom, etc..

Ciccolini is like 6'0". What "pattern" does he fall into?

I started drafting a response to the other post and then decided not to bother. I mean we are talking about the pattern being sons of former players and Swedes, lol.

I added the question mark as off hand I did not recall his size. The rest remain true.

PS - 37,000 messages? Something to consider.
What does this mean? For those of us that have been posting here for 15-18 years (when the board re-launched in 2002), that's not a huge amount of posts. For me, it's 7 per day. Am I supposed to be embarrassed or something?

There are posters here with literally hundreds of thousands of posts. I'm a diehard Rangers fan who lives in the DC suburbs. This is my only outlet to talk hockey, specifically Rangers hockey. :dunno:
