add Huska, despite the goalie glut.
Performing well as a rookie pro G is impressive,
Hartford is producing above their 'on paper' talent,
- never more than 2 genuine D prospects dressed at a time,
- no real standout at F since Chytil recall,
thanks to Huska, not much dropoff when Czar not in net

He's good, but Keane is a rookie who is also one of our two allstar reps.

Lundkvist, mainly due to recent history.

To be honest, it's very close between all these players, as I tend to value NHL experience heavily versus upside. For me, it's (in order):
Lundkvist
Kravstov
Miller
Lindgren
Rykov
Jones

Add Keane. The kid's an AHL All-Star as a 20 year old rookie. I'd personally rank him higher than Rykov and Jones, right below Lindgren.

doesn't much matter to me, but aren't you contradicting yourself

IMHO this trend of so many anointing Jones top 10 seems premature and suggests recency bias
Glad he has been good, but for me,
still really hard to sort out Reunanen, Jones and Robertson, among the next wave of D
and, with the mentioned nod to valuing actual NHL experience, maybe none yet deserve to be ahead of Hajek ...

Kravtsov, with some hesitation.

Add Reunanen. Glut of defensemen, not really sure how to best separate them.

EDIT: Add Hajek, not Reunanen. I like the upside on the latter but feel more "sure" about Hajek.

I went with Kravtsov, but it's really a tossup for me between him, Lundkvist, and Miller with Jones close behind.

I guess I'd add Barron, who's tied for 10th in the NCAA in PPG, wears a "C", and has gotten meaningfully better every year.

I'm not sure if he's my guy, but I think Robertson is a guy who hasn't been discussed, but should be. I have maybe a different take on him than other people having watched a few of his shift-by-shifts. I think his toolset in terms of size, skating ability, and puck skills is the best of our any defensemen other than Miller. It seems to me like he could have the skillset to be a top pairing D if he reached his ceiling. But despite the fact that he's got size, he seems to lose a lot of board battles and sometimes his effort level struck me as lacking (even early in games before he would have become tired), and despite all his offensive talent, he hasn't put up a ton of points, even with a lot of ice time. On top of that, his progression the past few years doesn't strike me as particularly impressive. I tend to weight upside heavily, so the fact that he has a ton of it makes him intriguing to me, but I also tend to value realized results and progression a lot and I wonder if he has the work habits / intensity to reach his potential.

While I like Hajek's size and skating ability, I'm still unsure his puck management will be good enough for him to be a decent NHL defenseman. Unfortunately, the results so far (only 5 points in 58 games in Hartford last year and a 37% Corsi [yikes!] this year with the worst Corsi rel on the team) seem to back up those concerns to me. Personally, I'd have him behind Barron, Lindgren, Keane, Reunanen, Robertson, and Rykov, at least.

Where would you rank Cam York if he was in our system? Because Zac Jones scored at almost the same rate as York in the USHL last year despite the fact that Jones' team scored only about half as often as York's, Jones has outscored York in the NCAA so far, and Jones directly beat out York for 5v5 and power play spots on the US WJC team.

Just again being Captain Obvious reminding that the ranking - as in choosing one prospect over another at a point in time is a balancing act between ceiling (whether reasonable or absolute) and how far along a prospect is toward achieving that ceiling.

Um...what? Why? Am I missing something? Hajek may very well be the better prospect (though not in my opinion) but not even close?

Based on their experience, no. Hajek has proven to be NHL level. Now it's more about consistency and further development to determine whether it's 3-6/7 in the NHL. Keane is not there. He's not projected to have higher ceiling and his experience is only half season of AHL. At this POINT it's not close.

i really cant say about York, i don't follow hundreds of prospects, just the few dozen that are in NYR pipeline, or who catch my attention along the way. Yes those are compelling numbers, I am not dismissing Jones in any fashion.

i do stand by my couple of really basic statements
(a) i am glad he is doing so well
(b) if we group Fox/Lindgren/Miller/Lundkuist/Rykov as the top tier of D pipeline
i find it hard to sort between the D guys in the next tier :Hajek, Jones, Keane, Robertson, Reunanan

but i also don't think it matters that much

this is a great situation for NYR,
where Skinner, Day, Gross, Ragnarsson, Sjalin are not even top 10 in their team's pipeline at D

with another handful of signed or drafted guys (Crawley, Raddysh, Kjellberg, Nanne) so far down the totem pole they will get virtually zero consideration at all as genuine prospects
