This is a huge drop off point.

Gettinger is my guy here, but I have a sneaking suspicion that he's a guy who isn't going to get a real shot in New York, whether he can hang with the Michael Haley's of the world or not...

edit - add Aaltonen

Gettinger

He's had a nice 2nd pro season, nothing spectacular, but he's roughly at .5 ppg in a top 5 league in the world.

Thinking about it, he doesn't get premium PP time either. The top unit for Hartford is Keane, Kravtsov, O'Regan, Fogarty, and Lettieri. I believe unit 2 is Rykov, Beleskey, Nieves, Raddysh/Ebert, and Newell was getting time there. He might get some time on PP2, but most of his ice time is ES and PK, maybe replacing Newell on PP2.

While his ceiling isn't higher than some guys listed here, his floor is looking more and more like an 4th liner, with some 3rd line upside, and a guy who is on your #2 PK unit.

Gettinger, add Ragnarsson. Tough call between Ragnarsson and Sjalin for me.

FYI, Lindbom is still an option to add even though he is in the poll now

Add Aaltonen. I actually might have him above any of the guys listed here.

I think we're at the point where none of the remaining prospects are currently performing well enough to project as NHL'ers. When I think about the guys who have been this low in the rankings and jumped up in the past like Reunanen or Pajuniemi, they tend to be younger guys who haven't yet established themselves in pro leagues. Obviously, guys in college or juniors could jump up future rankings too, but generally it makes sense to me that the younger a player is and the harder the league they're playing in, the more understandable relatively unimpressive performance is and the more likely that is to change in the future. Aaltonen and Edstrom seem to me like the guys who fit that scenario that best.

I'd go with Aaltonen over Edstrom because I think he's got a little more high end skill. Obviously, he's a fantastic skater and it seems to me like he's got a decent shot and some passing ability too.
