Bigras, if I was paying attention to who was getting added in these past few, I probably would’ve been pushing for Bigras to be like 15/16 on the list. Add Huska

Ragnarsson. He has a legit role on a pro team at 19. He passed 2018 1st rounder Filip Johansson and 2017 2nd rounder Westerlund in the eyes of Sweden's WJC management but has somehow fallen from 17th to at least 19th in our eyes, even with Pionk, Day and Ronning all dropping out in front of him.

Add Lindbom.

Pionk, Day, and Ronning dropped, but Gettinger, Reunanen, Barron, Nieves, and Keane all jumped big time. Kinda evens out. I agree he shouldn't drop much more, but I still have him behind Bigras and Sjalin.

Sjalin is underrated here. He played half the season at age 18 (having just turned 18 at the start of the season) with a Leksands team that played in the final. Now that he's back healthy he's quickly ascending the depth chart there (also passing Johansson). And he's also just 19, again, having turned 19 in September. He has a good amount of experience with the U18-U20 squads as well. I think he's a sleeper.

Personally, I think we got a little carried away with a small sample from Nieves and I'd have Ragnarsson over Gettinger (and Meskanen) too, but I think your point is generally right.

I agree Sjalin should be getting more attention, but have Ragnarsson ahead of him. I thought Ragnarsson was clearly the better of the two when I watched them in the 4 nations this summer and Sweden's WJC team had Ragnarsson over Sjalin too.

Gettinger and Meskanen, for me, get the nod for having success in the AHL. They're close, and I think they have decent potential. Ragnarsson I really like as a prospect, but he seems so much further out. If he can put together a couple good seasons in the next two years, we'll see him rocket up the list in the process. Seems like lots of upside there.

I can't speak to the 4-Nations as I didn't see them there. Interesting observation though. As for the WJC--Sjalin injured himself during those games in August. So he never even had the opportunity to be considered, since he wasn't even playing until camps had concluded, IIRC.

Yeah, I think it's a reasonable difference of opinion. I tend to prefer the higher risk / reward of younger prospects and Ragnarsson's 18 yo season in the Allsvenskan was very impressive, so he gets the nod for me, but I understand the other side of it too.

I think you are right about Sjalin's injury (as usual). Sjalin's very responsible in his end, but he's one dimensional. I thought Ragnarsson was just as good defensively, but he's a better skater and adds an element offensively that Sjalin doesn't have (in my opinion).

Have a tie breaker between Paju and Gross. Winner faces Ragnar. That's how we roll.

Is this a quote from one of the Sweden coaches? Ragnarsson didn't play in the WJC but Westerlund did, so it seems like they prefer Westerlund?
