Lamb being voting in at 19, down 4 spots from the winter, is pretty surprising to me. Took a pretty big step forward this season, more than 3x as many points/goals from his previous season, with a respectable 27 points in 39 games in the NCAA. I'd probably have had him somewhere around 15.

16-20 is like rolling in boggle. You could mix those player rankings up any which way. 27 in 39 is respectable but I feel like so many other players in NCAA will go a point per game and never play a single game in the NHL s... shrug?

The only NCAA forwards I've found that had any measure of success in the NHL (300-400+ games) while not having spectacular (sub-PPG) NCAA careers (I'm sure they are out there but definitely the exception, not the rule) are Randy McKay, Craig Adams, Patrick Sharp, Shjon Podein, Riley Sheahan, Shawn Horcoff, Chris Nilan, Bob Corkum, Tommy Wingels... I had to dive deep in the barrel to fish out these names. I left off anyone who was a 1st round pick and had one season before jumping to the NHL. So it can happen but 9-10 players in 30-40 years? Not the greatest odds. It'd be even more surprising if Lamb plays a single game in the NHL. Let's see if the kid even earns an ELC first.

Voted Aspinall . Rangers seem to do well with big forwards. Rempe, Edstrom. I think Roobroeck is gonna surprise people in Hartford. They turned Brian Boyle when acquired from the Kings, Colton Orr to a degree as well.

.. but what do we really know ...
come spring, Karpa or/and Kempf could join Pack from Harvard/Cornell,
mature and seasoned following 4 full NCAA seasons,
and play more key roles down the stretch,
or/contend for depth roles w NYR, than the guys voted higher ...
