I've always expressed some mild concerns with Othmann, but have largely stuck by him. I've also always LOVED Berard and he was such a pleasure to watch last season.

Berard is my #2 here. Does Othmann ultimately have more upside? Yes. But Berard brings so much to the table, and despite his size he feels like such a sure bet to have an impact, that he takes the spot for me this time.

Add Noah Laba.

Othmann. Add Jones if Jones is somehow eligible. No reason to penalize Jones based on eligibility rules

Othmann is the name brand, Berard is the generic. Both will work, but Othmann just gets it based on reputation and draft status.

I'll take Berard, but it is definitely close. Different players, both can be up/down the lineup players, but I'll take the guy with the stead 5v5 production over the PP player.

I still think if there is a big move to be made for this franchise this or next season, it should be Othmann that is moved.

Went with Berard. This is close. I thought about both Emery and Othmann. Othmann's a little younger and bigger than Berard with higher upside but Brett's further ahead of him as a player IMO. A more rounded game.

I guess Zac would be the guy to add though Rempe, Edstrom, Laba and Mancini would all be good candidates too.

Went Ohmann but it’s a tossup with Berard at this point. And that’s not a slight on either player.
Add Rempe.

Add Jones. I would have voted for him here if I could have. I'm not sure Berard or Othmann's upside is that much higher than what Jones was at his best in the NHL this year and Jones still has room to develop too.

Went with Berard over Othmann. They aren't that far apart in age and I thought Berard was better in Hartford this year. He did more off the scoresheet, he was less reliant on the PP and Brodzinski for points, and he progressed more over the course of the year.

Went with Emery. He’s far away, but if he hits as a middle pairing defenseman that’s a lot more valuable than a third line winger.

Feel the same. Agree with reasoning and the pick. That’s not to say that I couldn’t flip again, as early as the winter ranking.

Add Jones.

Edit: interesting that most of the posts advocate for Berard, yet he trails in the voting at least thus far.

Othmann… but Berard is catching up fast.

Yes, Jones has to be the add here. He may be better than Othmann or Berard.

i think these guys round out the top 12, but not much sort them out by:
Jones, Edstrom, Mancini, Fortescue, Chmelar, Laba

Matthew Robertson is also eligible for consideration now.
not signing to a 2nd contract never made sense to me
giving the new coach/staff a shot with him seems the right move

Berard is a small player, and while i’m excited to see him in the NHL, i’m a bit hesitant until i see how he does vs bigger and stronger competition. He’s my #3 though and passed Sykora on my list.
