I tend to devalue goaltenders unless they're absolutely elite, which Garand is not, but he's an excellent goaltending prospect regardless. He's too good to not go here.

Garand, then Sykora. They will roll this round/next round and rightfully. Add Skinner

Garand should've gone 2 picks ago, Sykora is the obvious next choice here (i actually might've put him over Robertson & maybe Cuylle)

To me Garand and Sykora should have gone 6 and 7 with the rest in some combination but it’s all the same tier. Garand has potential to be one for the best 30-45 players at his position. None of the others in that tier do. I also think Sykora has a better chance to be a second liner than they wingers that went ahead of him in that tier, while the others might top out at third line. But yeah don’t think the voting is egregious as last time where Kravtsov was being blacklisted, I think this is about right/everyone is in the right general area. Big drop after 10 though.

Not trying to change anyone's mind but dont understnd asserting Robertson result is too high.
Size, skating, regarded predraft, 2 brilliant. decorated D+1,D+2 WHL seasons, and an effective rookie pro season.
Having Lindgren, Miller, Jones in LD depth chart doesnt alter Robertson projection as very likely and effective NHLer
I love Garand and am excited by Sykora, but Robertson earned his result

To me, Garand tops out as starting NHL goalie. I don’t think Robertson tops out as a top pair dman. Simple as that to me, not to speak for anyone else. I think everyone that is going to finish 6-10 is pretty interchangeable though.

Robertson is the #1 guy who I have actually watched a fair amount where what I've seen does not line up with what his fans on this board seem to think about him. I think he is a fine prospect, but people talk about him like he is more than he is. He is tall and he skates well, which he uses very effectively in transition, but I haven't seen much else there. He gets pushed around too much and does not manage the puck well. There is a reason examples like this are easy to find:

I don't think it means that much that he scored a lot of points in his 5th season in Juniors on a stacked team. That's how people got carried away with Sergey Zborovisky.

He's also a guy whose development has been fairly stagnant. He played in the WHL as a U16 and was one of the main guys on Canada's U18 team, but then he got passed over by the time U20's came around.

I think there is a fair argument that a guy like Hunter Skinner, who had a similar season in Hartford, and has improved on a steeper trajectory should be considered very similarly. This was what Scott Wheeler's said about Skinner in his last write up "A couple of the folks I’ve talked to think he has been better than Robertson, the consensus better prospect to this point in their careers," which is understandable from what I saw watching Hartford. I have not watched Emberson as much, but he seems to me like he is probably a similar type of prospect too.

I think what you are realistically hoping for is a faster Nemeth or Braun. A guy like that can be great on your bottom pair and, who knows, maybe Robertson can get more physical and better with the puck and be more than that, but it doesn't seem to me that is the likely outcome. Personally, I would have him in a group with Skinner and Emberson with guys like Garand and Sykora above him.

Can't be anyone but Garand, here. Next one is also simple with Sykora next.

After that, the system REALLY drops off. Like we have a really solid top 10. Legitimately so. But after that? It's pretty poor overall.

With that said, that's not exactly surprising. Most teams don't have incredible depth and no one can sustain it forever.

This is okay though. Have had a lot of graduates in the last two seasons so those players that would have made this look more robust are already on the team. Which is fine. The rebuild is over. Going ten deep on a contending team is far from a bad thing.

Why would you say our prospects are pretty poor when Adam Sykora and Mconnell Barker will be the 10 - 11 prospects on our list. We go pretty deep for a team that graduated most of their young guys already to the NHL. This is just what happens, now this draft and next draft will be important to continue to add more players to our list.

I think BMB slots in nicely after Sykora, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him make a huge leap in the midseason ranking now that he'll have the primary 1C role for SSM. After Sykora and BMB, we still have some intriguing depth prospects, and I could see some maybe being NHLers in Edstrom and Korczak. The other guys will hopefully step in and finally give HFD some depth and make us more of a homegrown, competitive AHL team.
