Virta is going to be that guy that everyone sleeps on in this poll and makes the team next year as a 4th liner.

Add Gettinger.

Barron, add Fontaine.

What is crazy, is we have (2) guys in Gilmour and O'Gara who very well may be NHlers this year not even mentioned yet. At what point do we say that if any of the guys we are voting to add become depth NHL pieces, that's a success? Because both of those guys are depth NHLers at this point.

Here's the thing: Between Meskanen, Lindqvist, Virta and even Pajuniemi we have 4 young kids with pro-experience who have done quite well. Whoever is the best out of these 4 changes daily for me. I just can't make up my mind.

16 prospects voted in, 6 more in the poll. That takes us to 22. Imo best 3 yet to be added are Gilmour, Pajuniemi and Huska. That means guys like O'Gara, Sjalin, Gropp and Bigras would end up as honorable mentions. Wow.

When you get to this point of the list, there's no huge gaps separating prospects.

You like certain aspects of each better than the others, but there are many variables.

Our 14 and 15 drafts were pretty bad, but there is still a chance for our 2016 draft. Couple of promising players who could carve out NHL careers. The focus on the top where we have 2017 and 2018 picks (obviously our 1st rounders seem to be outstanding) and the players acquired in trades from the '16 draft.

Day, Ronning, Fontaine, and Gettinger have chances. Good roster depth pieces. Wall will need to do well this season, as he was bad last year. Reunanen has barely played, so hopefully he gets icetime this year, or he's a lost cause as well.

At this point, I prefer the older pro guys. The Finnish guy named after a drug, Virta, Lindqvist, etc.

If he was part of this poll in 2015, sure. He would have been picked already. But in the last 2 years our depth has improved immensely.

When Sean Day is already in the rankings and some others are in the poll choices, that’s not a convincing argument when you consider what Huska has done compared to them and what their upsides are.
