In every poll, there are a few who bring up ideas for a new format. What does everyone think, we can spitball some ideas here and we can put it to a vote if the majority feels like we should go in a different direction.

If the overwhelming majority vote to keep it as it then we will. You can change your vote within the 48hrs in case you see a new idea you like.

I would definitely recommend keeping it at a set 20 names as after that the interest drastically decreases (and one final poll for 5 honorable mentions).

Schneider graduated from the list, and Kravtsov will have just been graduated as well.

Winter Prospect Ranking polls will start in the new few days!

To elaborate, I think ranked choice voting is the way to go if its easy enough to set up. Otherwise the way it's always been works fine.

don't know if ranked choice can be done here,
but we know, from PostGame threads, that multiple selections from a list is do-able

The smaller the list the better imo, no need of getting into players who have snowballs chance in hell of being NHL'ers
not convinced we really have a clue, about the non-obvious guys ( we likely agree alot re top ~10 and bottom ~5)
in 10 years, we might be surprised, for example, who among Garand, Ollas, Boyko, or Lindbom has most NHL GP, or most NHL success ...

we have well over 30 guys eligible, I'd be good w 25 + 5HM
i think 12-25 could go so many ways

Without a ranked choice we might all have the same three prospects ranked 123, and say we all think player A is 1 and player 3 is C, and all vote that way, how do we differentiate? I’d say the traditional way works best In that case.

Ranked choice would save us the trouble of doing all the tie-breaker polls but I don't think HF is that fancy.
In the spirit of spitballin', what about this?
an initial poll to pair down the initial prospect list to like 20 players. Make a giant poll with all possible prospects. Everyone gets 20 votes. top 20 make the initial list. we can still do the "add X next" as that keeps thread engagement up and bumps the thread for visibility.
When we get past the first 10 rankings, there is a midterm poll similar to the initial poll where people can vote in the next 10 players to get added to the list.
When we get past the 20 rankings, we do the honorable mention list with the remaining 10.

😂 this is probably needlessly too complicated

I get your point

But i dont take these polls too granularly, or seriously

If 3 guys far-dominate a round, then qualify them all, and move on ...

Great job so far; anything beyond 20 seems like overkill. They basically are D prospects well before they anyway.

I said to keep it.

My inclination was to go to 20, but when I looked at our list of guys, there are definitely 25 guys that I'd say are "legitimate" prospects worth being ranked. Guys like Ciccolini, Khodorenko, Aaltonen, of course they're hardly worth debate. But I think you can definitely make a cases for 25.

With that said, while I personally would go to 25, I know that voting usually drops off in the teens, so maybe there isn't enough interest in going to 25, and instead 20 is the way to go. I'll keep my vote for 25 for me personally, but acknowledge 20 is the right number.
