C Adam Tambellini won round 28. D John Gilmour is added to the poll.

RULES CHANGE:

Since HF no longer functions beyond the forum, no reason to have their old rules. We do, however, need the same rules for everyone or else the rankings mean nothing.

SKATER PROSPECT: A player 24 or younger with 50 or fewer NHL games.

GOALIE PROSPECT: A player 25 or younger with 25 or fewer NHL games.

EXCEPTION 1: If a player completed the required 50/25 games, but is still not regarded as an NHL regular because he's shuffling between the NHL and the AHL, he could still be a prospect as long as he's 24 or younger and if agreed upon by most people here.

EXCEPTION 2: A player who is no older than 25 years old at the time of the vote and is a borderline NHLer could still count if agreed upon by most people here.

Please vote on who to add to the next round of polling.

Chris Nell was a good goalie in college and deserves to be added. Probably too low as it is.

Add C Daniel Catenacci. Playing in the AHL with a cup of coffee in the NHL is more than anyone remaining will do. Still young enough to stick in the NHL if he takes a late step forward.

Voting for Nanne is ridiculous. He was a low-end long-shot who missed 2 years of his prime development years. He will be in a Canadian college, likely not good enough to ever play in the ECHL. I would be stunned if he ever cracks the AHL. I think there's zero chance he makes the NHL. Top prospects who missed 2 seasons of prime development can't make the NHL. How would a low end guy make it?

Barron, add Nanne.

First time in what seems like forever we've gone past #25.

add Stromwall
give him a mulligan for crappy first NA season w. the tire-fire of '16-17 HWP

First time in what seems like forever we've gone past #25.

We added a dozen prospects and the only ones we graduated/lost who have any reason to be viewed as legit prospects are Skjei, Vesey, Hrivik and Paliotta. Even going to #30 leaves several Hartford guys unplaced.

With 2 spots to go, 5 of 6 remaining guys are likely going to be in the AHL next season, as are Daniel Catenacci and Malte Stromwall. Morgan Barron is a recent draftee so he definitely belongs in the top-30. So we will have 6 guys who are not even in the top-30 who will be in Hartford next year. I suspect Malte Stromwall may not even be an Honorable Mention (31-35) despite being in Hartford.

i respect every one's opinion,
i know mine are not usually the in line with everyone else

but to me, the faith in Barron shown in this poll is remarkable, based on faith not performance

the kid has proven way less than anyone else on the list, possibly except Nanne or Bernhardt, but even those guys had pre draft seasons in age competitive leagues - high school hockey on the Maritimes is not a common or respected proving ground for prospects

i will be hopng y'all are right,
but to me this glows of the "shiny new toy" effect
where the newest names get excessive benefit of the doubt,
while more familiar names are undervalued

You're right that the others are more accomplished. I also generally prefer established guys who are closer to making it than wildcard, unknown guys. That said, this late it in the poll I'm more willing to gamble on perceived upside. I'm not enamored with any of the other "established" options.

Gilmour, as an example, was an absolute garbage fire last season. Now his awful season may be more than Barron ever accomplishes, but I'm not interested in casting a vote for a guy that I liked far, far less than Michael Paliotta who we didn't even tender. Fogarty, Lettieri, Leedahl, they all strike me as fourth line-types if they make it. Nell is intriguing, good college career, but it's tough to project goalies.

Barron apparently has a lot of offensive skill and already possesses great size that will turn into elite size as he fills out. Maybe voting for him is taking a shot in the dark, but this late in the list I'm okay going with the "wing and a prayer" prospect.
