Both have money issues. One thing about Arizona contracts is that unlike many teams, their contracts have backloaded cash. I agree that Dvorak is unlikely to be traded but this situation is very fluid and there may be a new GM here soon. As for Vegas, they definitely have cap issues for next year especially if they want to keep Lehner.
I assume signing bonuses are paid at the beginning of a season. Marc Staal is only owed $1.2M after that :naughty:
Thanks for taking time to answer those unknowns.

On this board? I give it two full periods of a game.
He definitely gets a full season to do whatever as long as Stall and Smith are on the team
Then the fair judgment should be given after some time with a decent Left Side.

If the Rangers wanna make serious strides this year then one of them has to go.
I cant see this defense progressing with enduring another year with both of them on D. One has to go at least.

I get Stalls a longtime vet and you dont do vets dirty but what a relief Itll ll be to get fresh faces on the left side AND the team no doubt gets instantly better
It has to
Maybe dress him less games idk. I dont see them buying him out

Think he only has a $1M signing bonus.

Yes that is correct. Bonuses paid July 1.

Staal contract 2020-21 is $1MM in bonus and $3.2MM in salary

AZ contracts, as rule, do not have many bonuses in them. Some of their highest ones they have are contracts like Stepan and Kessell that they acquired.

One other point about Jacques Martin....he is a sharp dresser.

Like AV sharp or like Duguay sharp?

I have always .. ALWAYS been a fan of Jacques Martin (didnt mean for that to rhyme but .oh well).

Love.. absolutely love this move.
Same this is a great hire. He is also good with youth which is good. I doubt they would have brought him in if he was a veteran type of coach

I haven’t read through all the pages, but I am seeing mixed reactions.

I absolutely LOVE this hire. EXPERIENCE. SUCCESS. This is exactly the type of hire this group needed. This is the type of hire DQ needed on his staff if he hopes to be THE coach for this group and not just the Set Up Man to the Coach who eventually leads the team to glory. Great hire. Now please trade Smith and buyout Staal. But at the very least trade Smith. And get him a competent LD.

Big fan of this move assuming he will be in charge of the defense and PK.

I always felt that the Penguins defensive group was a good example of a coaching staff doing more with less. Their penalty kill has always been good from what I remember.

If we can bring in a competent partner for Trouba (in the mold of a player like Vince Dunn) I can see this defensive group taking a step forward with positive development from Fox, Lindgren and DeAngelo.
Chara looked like a wasted pick on the Isles. Martin changed that very quickly and revealed Milbury’s incompetence (as if the latter’s FA moves and trades hadn’t already revealed it).

Wow. He won a Jack Adams as the HC of Ottawa in '98-'99. I had no idea.
Very underrated coach. He got some very strong performances in Florida out of several young, dysfunctional teams that lacked talent — even though he missed the playoffs while there.
