The rule explicitly states that simply being in the crease isn't enough of a reason to disallow a goal.

"This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player’s position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed."

And I doubt people have been saying in this conversation that he was in the crease screening the goalie, so therefore no goal.

I think the important part of this is "may in appropriate circumstances be allowed". It doesn't say anything like "must" be allowed, it's "may". i.e. it's up to the ref watching to decide that. Due to the wave off, they'd need conclusive evidence that Lee wasn't interfering at all with Georgiev's ability to make the save, and I just didn't see that conclusive evidence.

Was looking at the upcoming schedule here at work during my lunch break and way I look at it we’ll pretty much know whether or not we’ll be going dancing in April or left out for the 3rd year in a row within the next 10 days.

And do note I was not someone who thought we had even a smidgen of a shot at the playoffs even a month ago let alone before the season.

I thought the teams trajectory pointed to the playoffs next year and so pretty much anything we do from this point forward is gravy and part of the bonus plan as the Rangers have far exceeded expectations.

Anyways upcoming schedule is pretty daunting if you ask me:

Thursday @ Montreal tho the Habs are struggling, they always give us fits!
The next nite this Friday we are in Philly to play a well rested Flyer squad...that will be an extremely tough spot for us to win

Than beginning this Sunday we start a 4 game home stand vs the Flyers again followed the Blues, Capitals and the Devils.

That my friends is the definition of a tough ass schedule.

We likely need to go no worse than 4-2 and get 8 points during this stretch which would put us at around 80 points with 14 games to go to have a realistic shot at getting in.

If we can do that than I really would like our chances of getting into the playoffs. What’s pretty cool tho is even if we fell short, just the experience alone for our kiddie corps plus even our vets who haven’t been in a playoff race in a few years would be immeasurable experience and will serve the team very well going forward for years to come.

Bottom line....good times indeed here in Rangerland...
Here another way to look at it. Prior to last nights game, we went 14-6 in our last 20. We need to do the same in the last 20 games to reach 100 pts. Pretty daunting if you ask me. This will likely be very exhausting for all involved,... I'm gonna need to double up on my vitamins. LOL

isles fans are the worst, after every loss they blame the refs, the trouba hit was as clean as can be, Lee interference call was the right call, he backed into Gerogiev and interfered with him...you dont' hear us crying about the phantom Chtyil hooking call early in the 3rd period that was a terrible call against us. they are beyond pathetic

Meanwhile they were the benefactors of the worst missed call in all of sports in the last 20 years

We never ever ever ever got a call like that our entire decade run of making the playoffs.

Its embarrassing to suggest the NHL has a bias against the Islanders.

My favorite part of the game was the way Ziba drilled that slapper. Hard to describe, but it looks like a player losing it and hammering a puck against the boards after the whistle has blown. Like you don’t care at all where the puck goes but you just want to blow off steam by hitting something hard. Easily my second most favorite play of the decade after Buch’s cross-check on Marchand.
I posted last night that when he shot that puck it was as if he was saying, "f*** YOU, ISLANDERS!"

No whats laughable is watching him mooch off what is an MVP season from Panarin and passing him off as a point per game player when before this he was a 40-45 point player in his career. That is pretty laughable. Very laughable actually.

Guess you missed my post below.

At some point you got to give him credit. Was Strome's career best 8 game point streak that ended tonight not enough? I really don't understand this. As someone mentioned here, you don't see Fast scoring 50 pts playing with Panarin. Just maybe, Fast will reach 40 pts this season, if he's lucky. Which is only 7 more points than his best year. Maybe Fast should buy Panarin dinner to say thank you also?

These Islander fans are delusional talking about the Trouba hit. They are going to start talking about crisis actors soon I swear to god.

It was about as clean of a hockey hit as you can get. Beautiful. Shoulder driven, not to the head. A lesson as to why you keep your head up. Glad MDC is alright, but Trouba made him his *****.

Strome is one of the worst players in the NHL in terms of penalties taken and penalty differential. It is a serious detriment to his game.

Yes, and it is still not a good enough reason to lay the type and degree of hate Strome gets.

Again, we need to consider expectations and the rest of his performance against these expectations. If he was a lazy 4th line player taking someone's roster spot only because his salary was too big to bury - sure I could see this. But the guy is playing against a top competition in terms of defense too so I'd come with expectations of extra penalties. And yes some of them look lazy or results of brain farts but pretty much all hockey players get these. Most of his penalties are not of this nature. And again the main point is that what he has brought and done are well over what anyone should have reasonably expected.

They moved Chytil up with Panarin to start a game, to teach Strome a lesson. That lasted less than one period. The guy is genuine. Sure he is benefitting from the Breadman, but Panarin is also benefitting from him. Panarin is gonna score 20 more points than he ever had in his life. 20 points more than he had playing 2 years with Patrick Kane. But no one would dare suggest his point total this year is inflated cause he is playing with Strome. So why is Strome's production all due to Panarin? Fast is playing well, but his production hasn't increased. Fact is, Strome is playing for the first time, in all situations. Averaging 19 minutes a game. Another first. All that breeds confidence in himself, that the coaches have in him. He is only 26 and likely coming into his own.

I like this. People get so insular with their views.

I'm not even touching this blaspheme suggestion that Panarin might be benefiting from playing with Strome - a RH center.

Seriously though, I think there's a little truth to that but he's definitely benefiting from our up-and-coming RDs in ADA (especially) and Fox.

The Rangers have been scoring 3.43 5v5 GF/60 (60 GF%) with DeAngelo on the ice and 3.21 (59 GF%) with Fox compared to 2.12 (40 GF%) with neither of them.

Looking at Panarin specifically; 10+77 has scored 5.74 GF/60 (72 GF%), 10+23 5.4 GF/60 (84 GF%) and 10 without 23+77 3.24 GF/60 (56 GF%). 10+23+77 are at 12.05 GF/60 (89 GF%).

The suggestion that DeAngelo and Fox are significant drivers of Panarin's point production does not seem baseless.

But I'm sure they are also helping Zibad's line as well. In fact probably all 4 lines. The team is scoring more this year, in no small part due to our blueline (Fox, ADA, Trouba)

Quinn said Trouba might have had his best game of the year last night. And it just got me thinking, why is he a minus 11 in plus/minus. Ok, we have seen him look bad on scoring chances this year so it makes sense. But he has always been a plus player his entire career. And it's not like this team is losing. We are now 10 games above 500. Panarin is a +36, Fox +17, Tony D +16, who would have thought. So why is Trouba struggling? Is he having an off year? Can we expect better?

He’s had to play tough match ups while partnered with Hajek, Skjei, and now Smith.

We've passed Columbus in playoff probability.
