Rangers have lost 15 out of their last 19 games. What would you do if you were Dolan (the owner of the team) or Drury (the GM)?

laviolette is washed up. the team won the best regular season record with the exact same roster last season. How did they fall off so fast?

Here’s the problem with the Rangers. And not just this year but years past.

You build a team around a bunch of primadonnas that prioritize lifestyle over hockey, then you pay them to the moon so they can maximize their lifestyle. You’ll get the results you see.

The one year in the last 80 years they won it. They imported tried and true, hardened leadership from the Oilers dynasty in Messier, Anderson, Lowe, MacTavish, Tikkanen to power themselves to a Cup.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. That team isn’t winning anything with a leadership core of Panarin and Trouba. Trouba is gone so at least they realize in part of some of the problem I've always known. Panarin can stay cause talent is always needed, but he cannot be the alpha on the team.
So, the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL is what you're saying.

I'll say it again. It's a team full of players who (some more than others) screwed over their old clubs in some way so they can go chase whatever is so great about New York City. It is not a group who realizes you can pour your guts into it for 3 years, get to 2 ECFs, win a President's Trophy and all that hard work doesn't mean shit. That isn't to say they didn't work hard, play like champions and sacrifice. Their mistake was thinking this couldn't last more than a few years

I can only imagine what the owner is thinking right now.......big changes coming I would think.
Knowing Dolan he's thinking "I love the Knicks you see the Knicks.... Knicks Knicks Knicks"

Dolan cares about the Rangers if A) The Knicks are bad and not going to be good for a bit cause hockey feels like you can try and turn around a team quicker in free agency in the NHL then NBA B) if the Rangers are good and he doesn't have to do anything about it.

Knicks have more cache in the area cause NBA is a bigger league then the NHL

We were 12-6-1 when drury sent an email out saying he wants rid of our captain and also our longest serving player (and clutch playoff performer).

We had overachieved for a good while and needed moves and tweaks etc in a controlled fashion over time.

Instead he lost the players in the locker room and trouba and kakko are better than what we got back anyway.

This team is horrendous. Led by Shesterkin who has been absolute garbage for the last while. He was complete trash last night. Embarrassing

Goals are 67-33 over the past 18, I believe. 4 wins.

3.7 GA
1.8 GF

Abysmal, AND hilarious that they thought paying Shesterkin in the middle of this stretch was the best decision. Should have learned from Lundqvist… even if Shesterkin were the undisputed best goalie in the league, building from the net out is a bad strategy AND with the roster as flawed as it is, there’s no point in giving a goalie, who will be very nearly 30 when the extension begins, an 8 year 92M contract.

 I'm loving it to be honest and this team has been over rated for quite some time.

Looks like they aren't making the playoffs at this point.

It's cute seeing other fans talk about that President's Trophy like it means anything.

This was always a good but not great team held up by Igor and the wheels finally fell off in spectacular fashion. I'm just amazed they had a few more good runs in them after 2021.

There's no quick fix here. Take the medicine, draft and develop better, stop blowing up your cap for mid tier complementary guys and maybe you'll be able to get back in the playoffs by the time Laf is 27-28.

Laf’s a great example of a mid tier complementary player too. Debatable that he earned his extension with one year where he finally looked decent and now he’s played like a 30 year old vet who just got his retirement deal and stopped caring ever since.

Say what you want about the Goodrow and Trouba contracts but how management dealt with them absolutely has to really hurt morale in that room. Imagine working at a job where management tosses your well liked coworkers in the least respectful way possible. Combine a coach who has lost the room with management that the players hates and you get a team that doesn’t give a shit anymore.

I’ve been saying for awhile they were not an elite team but they’re also much better than they’re playing. They rushed their rebuild, signed some bad contracts and now will be lucky to get past the 1st round for another generation cycle more than likely. Plus when they’re ready to compete again, they’ll have an old goalie making 11.5m.

I think the first 2 moves should be clear;

Fire Drury- Players probably hate him now & he hasn't been an impressive GM

Fire Lavi- I don't think he's all to blame considering how Rangers recycle coaches. But the room is lost and they got to start fresh.

Id also be keeping an eye on the JT/Pettersson situation. If it gets worse and JT is officially on the block id beg Zibby to move his clause and beg Vancover to be interested in him lol. Zibby ++ for JT ideally.

With Igor being signed this team clearly isn't looking to rebuild (even if that would've been the best choice) At this point id be looking for some shakeup trades and go from there.

This isn't true IMO. Yes, his team being in NYC is a huge boost when it comes to free agency but in the NBA its much quicker to turn your team round via UFA in the NBA. Knicks, not so much because they've had minimal success in the last 25 years but the point stands.

My disdain is more directed to the fact that somehow a locker room with Chris Kreider and coach Lavi in it does not understand that winning the Cup is the single hardest thing they will ever do in their life. I don't care if people shit on the Cups Tampa won. It wasn't until they fully accepted how hard this was that they finally got over it. The Rangers appear to be rejecting it admist Drury leaking shit to the press in the most unnecessary of ways

What a load of BS. So every UFA who doesn’t re-sign is “screwing over” their team?

Hopefully you’re not including Fox in that ridiculous statement since the Rangers are literally the only team he’s ever played for.

Why wouldn't Fox be included in that since he refused to sign with multiple teams, forcing his way to the Rangers?

I mean good on him as a person but as a hockey fan I hope he never wins anything lol

Because in no sense could Carolina or Calgary be considered his “former team”, since he never signed a contract with them. They each got a fair return for his signing rights, no reason to feel bad for them.

Screwing over your team would be signing a contract and then refusing to honor it. He literally never did that.
